I used a level to make sure that I had the base on correctly. There are little plastic pieces underneath the rod on both the mirror and the base. These allow the arm to be extended or collapsed close to the wall. Unfortunately, when extended to say, cut your hair, the mirror is so heavy it not only pulls the arm down, it also will not stay in one position as it swings back and forth while you are trying to work with no hands (which is the point of having a mirror like this). My husband thought that it would be more secure if the two metal pieces on both ends of the mirror handle and the base were tightened. It didn't do a thing. This is a very poorly made piece and I now know why most of these are very expensive. Please do not waste your money. We wound up throwing it away as my husband tried to fix it by modifying it.

5 stars All! Sooo easy to To install! The double-sided tape that you attached to the wall really really stays I've had mine up for three years and it's still steady as could be. In fact, I just had to buy a replacement because one of the maids broke the mirror part and I was easily able to unscrew the old one and screw on the new one! The hand extends out perfectly so I can put it where I need to over the vanity. The magnification is just enough for great tweezing and close-up make up application. I recommend this one.

We have this mirror mounted in our bathroom. It is a bit small, but if you are VERY careful, it does the job. The connection between the rack and the mirror frame is very poor! If you are not careful, it will fall off. I caught ours once, did not catch it the second time :^(

This was easy to install and a great product overall! I left my old one at our old house and got another one when we moved. My only complaints are it's really hard to get all the gunk out of the rim around the mirrors and it did get rusty in our last bathroom that was really small but had a vent. I don't think I'll have that issue in the new house but time will tell!

I purchased this for my motor home. It works but is really loose and will move while putting make up on if someone comes in to the motor home.
