Lush artwork, great quality!
Lots of cool zombie fighting, and plenty of WTF when humans try to abuse their power. I look forward to reading the rest of these!

Great story. Perfect for any Resident Evil fan
Great story. Perfect for any Resident Evil fan... especially if you liked Resident Evil 6 and the characters. I'm especially excited to be seeing Piers in the series, as well as some new faces.

Resident Evil Manga that does not dissapoint
The art is interesting but it being a manga focuses a lot on dramatic and sexual aspect of the characters. The story starts pretty quickly. This being before Resident Evil 6 makes it interesting and leaves the reader wanting more.

A great read for any fan
Very good manga for anyone that is a fan of the resident evil series. It's not a long book and only take about 20-30 minutes to read cover to cover. There are 5 in the series.

Resident Evil Greatness in this book
This is a great Resident Evil book to read. For those that follow up on the storyline like me I am always wanting to know what happens with my favorite characters. Superb artwork quality. Very satisfied here.

A rocky start...
So, I'm going to address the biggest issue first. The art. At first glance the art is actually pretty solid. Then, you look closer. The characters are very stiff looking, and heavy on the awkward poses. Most likely the characters are all rendered from modeling software and either drawn over, or cel shaded. This creates a few added issues when it comes to the characters interacting with the backgrounds. In several long shots there are heavy white borders around the characters, giving them a cut out appearance. So, everything looks very nice and detailed, but it lacks a sense of flow. This does improve a great deal as the book moves forward, though. So that gives me hope for later volumes. The second issue is the story. Now, the story isn't actually half bad. What is bad is how long it takes before the story really gets interesting. Over half the book is used to establish that Marhawa Academy is isolated, and that Mother Gracia wants no outside agencies coming in and revealing the infection at the school, and that Doug and his nephew, Ricky, have to take care of it themselves. Half. The. Book. There are also some awkward chapters where Chris Redfield and his crew are looking are looking for Doug. These chapters are obviously set up for later in the series, but the way they are interjected into the story feels sloppy, and even though the back cover copy says that Chris and his team get to the school, that doesn't happen in this book. So, those are the big issues. Still, I'm giving this book three stars. Why? Well, about halfway through, after a nice twist, the book starts getting better. Suddenly characters are starting to emerge. Sure, they are more outlines than fully fleshed individuals, but they add something to the book. The focus shifts from Mother Gracia wanting to keep the outside world out, and instead focuses on what inside the world of the school is causing the infection. Gracia starts to reveal herself to be an interesting villain, and Ricky starts to become a bit of a hero (and the character of Bindi, one of the students, starts to take a more proactive role in the story proper). Also, the art becomes more natural looking, with a better sense of movement, and less ridiculous poses. Then I reached the end, and found myself completely surprised that I wanted to read the next book. So, after a super rocky start, I found myself suddenly getting interested in the story being told. So, Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire vol. 1 is half a hot mess, and half a good book, and if the improvement in art and storytelling continue into the next volume I wouldn't be surprised to see this series turn into a fun little Resident Evil story.

I liked these books better than the S
I liked these books better than the S.D. Perry books from a few years ago. It really to pick up in volume 2. It's a good read.
