Peace Mandala Coloring Book Paperback – July 1, 2000

The "Mandalas," as the designs in the book are generally named are all created by children, so they're sweet, and pretty and not nearly complex enough to justify the price of this book. There are only 25 printed Mandalas and at least 6 of them are only half a page. I love the idea of encouraging kids to create Mandalas and learn their uses, but I think there should be a disclaimer on the book warning adults that they might find it unsatisfying and they should reduce the price to under $5 so that parents of kids can introduce them to the subject without too much expense.

I bought 2 of these books for my 8 and 10 year old daughters based on the 3 prior reviews. They both love art and were not impressed by this book, neither was I. Most of the mandalas are very simplistic so if you want to color anything intricate, then you have to add lines, circles, etc, to the existing designs. Your own kids can probably make their own mandalas to color which will be just as good, or better than the ones in this book. If I had paid only $4.95 or so for this book, then I would up the stars to 3. Don't buy it.

This book is excellent for meditative and contemplative coloring. It helps me focus on the divine and peaceful. I have never been able to meditate in a traditional manner but coloring these Mandalas does calm me and help block out the troubling world. I highly recommend this if you need to calm down after a busy day.

I had a great time, the most relaxing thing I have done in months. It brought out the little girl in me. The images are outstanding and very creative.
