Easy to use and good price.
People complain about breaking where it turns. Just spray with WD40 and let water drain out of holes when you use it. Best cover lift I've ever had. Hot Tub tech said it was one of the nicest he had ever seen.

Very lightweight
This is my second attempt at a spa cover. To install required emptying out the spa and raising it up. I used a crowbar to get it up the 1/2" inch or so to install the cover mount under the spa. After putting it together, which required a drill to install the six screws to put it together, I found that the product is made of soft aluminum so it easily bends. I've had it about 2 months now, and it does not fold back easily and bends very easily. However, for the price in comparison with other companies, this is a good fit. Just don't use any heavy covers. I live in S. Florida so only have a 2" cover and the unit fits, but when I had a 4" cover, this lifter could not easily carry the weight and one of the arms broke off.

NOT easy to put together, NOT hydraulic! Misinformation on the website.
The lift is just ok. It will work to hold my spa cover. However, it required that I drill the screws that hold the arms in place - there were no actual holes, but tiny marked places where they should have been. You cannot put this together with only a screwdriver. Also missing two screws. No hydraulics on the unit, it is only a steel stand that you can slide your cover into. I kept it instead of sending it back because I could make it work. Not a good value for the price!

Nice hydraulic lift support, structure too delicate, needs careful opening
Overall, I do like this hot tub cover lifter. The hydraulic support is nice. The best thing is that the weight of the hot tub does not rest on its middle seams like with other systems. My prior hot tub lifter was this bar that holds the cover up by having it folded and resting on the seam. The weight of the hot tub tore the seam and I had to replace the cover even though it was overall still in good shape. Here is what you have to watch with this hydraulic lift cover: When you slide it on the support and open it up, you have to be SLOW AND GENTLE to bring it to its resting position. If you swing it open too fast, the force of the hot tub cover might be so high that it could snap the support tubes. In my opinion, they are built too thin and weak. But again, if you are careful and gentle, I believe this lifter will last you quite a long time and will make your hot tub cover also last longer.

I did not have to drain my Jacuzzi to install
Three concerns I had when I purchased it. 1: everywhere said that I would have to drain my jacuzzi to install the base plate. 2: would it be sturdy enough to hold my 8' x 8' cover and 3: when I removed my cover and folded down the lift with the cover.....would it fit in the small 3' area I have between palm trees and the jacuzzi.Happy to say it works and fits perfectly....as far as the base plate. It is thin enough that I was able to slide it right under the jacuzzi with ease. Once under the jacuzzi I lined it up the the base of where the cover sits and secured the square poles in minutes with the self taping screws. The big test.....will it work? This passed the test with flying colors. with the gas shock it has. It makes it effortless to remove the cover and tilt it up....It takes very little clearance room to pivot it to the upright position...All in All.....it is a 5 Star in my book....especially for the price and the limited options of cover lifts I had...

It Works, But Installation Had a Problem
I have a hot tub that is sitting on an elevated pad, and built into a deck on three sides. This lifter that would mount on the one open side got my attention. Based on reviews and answers to questions, I decided to take a chance on it, even though I had never used this style of lifter before. The lifter arrived within a week, which I guess is the new norm these days. Assembly wasn't hard, though I will point out that the vendor includes a hardware parts bag that contains way more screws and nuts than you need for this item. Unit assembled quickly, though you will need a power drill to install some of the self-tapping sheet metal screws required for assembly. My only comment/ complaint about this lifter is something that may not affect every user, but did impact me. Like I said, my hot tub is on a pad elevated about 6 inches off the ground. When installed, the cover lifter stuck out the back of the hot tub and pad. I didn't think this was a big deal, until I lifted the cover the the first time and the steel plate that slides under the tub and supports everything immediately bent down under the weight of the cover. So, lesson learned was that the base plate MUST completely contact a solid surface. I was able to correct the issue with some concrete blocks wedged under the base plate to give it a firm support.Once the base problem was solved, the unit seems to perform as advertised. Easy to open, easy to close.

Better than bar system that connects in middle of cover
The fact that this drops cover lower than hot tub sold it for me. It does look flimsy but dont let that fool you. I have had mine for quit some time now and no issues. Love it.
