Thank goodness for this book!
My husband and I discovered our 13 year old son had Aspergers along with his already diagnosed ADHD. The first thing I didWas go to Amazon and order 5 books on the subject (I wanted to know everything I could about what was going on with our son) thank goodness I read reviews and "Quirky Yes..." was amongst the 5 I chose. " Quirky Yes, Hopeless No" was the BEST of the bunch. My husband read it first and as he did he kept saying, "you have to read thisbook it is exactly what is going on with us" and when it was my turn I couldn't believe how direct it was, it spoke to me like it waswritten about our son and gave us solutions immediately, not in long technical text but in simple explanations I could understand. For the first time in my sons life I understood how he felt and why. I learned how to communicate with him on a different level, how he thought and SO much more. It opened a world for my husband and myself that no other book did or has since. what a gift to a parent or anyone who loves a child with Aspergers. This book made understanding Aspergers easy. An easy reference to help and understand your Autistic spectrum child.
The best book I ever got to help me navigate through my son's diagnosis of Autism. I still refer to it for answers to questions about things that he is experiencing as a teenager. I love how it's broken down into an alphabetical reference for different topics. Such as Birthday Parties, Choices, Dating, whatever question you may have can probably be answered or get you on the right track of how to deal with a situation. I have told many educators to get this book for their in reference.

Read a Library Copy, But Had to Buy Two Copies for Home and School!
After wandering alone without help, there's been a large number of books on Asperger's released over the last 5-10 years. That's a blessing, but it's hard to know if you'll get a simple book, a clinically-written textbook or a good all-round guide.I place this book in the category of a "good all-around guide" that helped me understand my children better and change how I see their behavior to a POV through their eyes. I got some excellent tips that not only helped me, but worked for my son's teacher immediately. I love that Dr. La Brie Norall has such extensive, real-life experience in working with Aspies on a practical level and not as study participants under a microscope.I initially read this book from the library, but I am buying two copies: one for home and one for my son's school. My son's teacher already said she'd be interested to read it, and will send the book along to his next teacher as well.

The best book yet on the topic
The format of this book is outstanding!! Indexed by type of behavior with wonderful explainations of what the "aspie" might be experiencing and how to deal with it to help the child ease through it.very much from the child's point of view. We are grandparents and so wished that we had had the book this summer when the 10 yr old was having such problems during her visit with us. Have sent the book to all the relatives that deal with her and her mother gave copies to her school and her psychologist. Can't recommend this highly enough, the best one we have read so far.

Greatfull for this book!
After learning about our child being on the spectrum, we went through several books to try to quickly understand what was going on. This book by far was the easiest read and is very accurate for us. It has enabled me to calm down when I get frustrated and be able to put myself in his shoes as much as humanly possible.

A must-read for care givers of kids on the spectrum
If you're the parent or teacher of a child on the spectrum, this is a must-read. It's organized by behavior so it's easy to get the information you need about a specific challenge. Helps decode certain behaviors and gives you ideas on how to help the child. I give this to all my son's teachers.
