Very informative!!
This book was a simple read, but gave so much important information! I did not feel overwhelmed with the details like I have with other financial literature.

Must read for comprehensive money advice in an easily consumable format
If you need money information about how to get out of debt, save for retirement, and take financial control of your life, but don't enjoy relish reading another personal finance book, On My Own Two Feet is for you. Thakor and Kedar make the task of creating a money management plan fun. I know most women (and men) would rather not think about finance, retirement, saving, and debt. If you fall into that category, this book is for you.You will be hooked from the start with the call outs and side bars of usable information: The Money Madness section sheds light on the reality that "despite outward appearances of affluence, a shocking number of people are literally just a stone's throw away from financial disaster." The book helps you realize that you are not alone in your financial troubles and that the solutions are readily available in this book.I highly recommend this readable and informative book.

Great book for young professionals on personal finance
This is by far one of my favorite personal finance books for young professionals. It gives a pretty succinct recap of the basics of personal finance ranging from loans, investments, and credit cards alongside other information. My favorite part is the fact that it includes info on robo-advisors for investing such as Betterment and Wealthfront, and has a lot of comprehensive charts and other information. Even though the book targets women, I'd argue that it has useful information for everyone as a general 'modern guide to handling one's finances'. I took off a star for two reasons: 1) it seems like a lot of the direct book links don't work - i.e. the ones that are supposed to lead to the book's website and 2) the Kindle version occasionally cuts off the larger charts.

Helpful
I found this book to be incredibly helpful for me as a 26 year old. I first read the first edition in high school 8 years ago then the second edition last year so I could learn about student loans. It was perfect for me and I learned a lot, so I highly recommend it.

EXCELLENT Introduction to Personal Finance!
I was first introduced to this book about 10 years ago, and I've come back to it again and again since. I've given many copies to friends and always get lots of positive feedback about how much the book has helped. Simple advice on how to do all the basics - Easy to understand and follow. An excellent guide and handbook on the basics of personal finance.

Great Book!
Brought this book for my niece who graduated from college this year. She was so grateful to receive this book and has thanked me over and over again. I feel that this book does a good job getting to the point. I checked out Suze Orman's book,The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke, but it was written in 2007 and did not have a current section on student loan debt.

Good for the US
I am in Australia and the recommendations are for the US market, although the principles are transferrable. Therefore, for me it is only ***.It is a good guide to financial management to any young person at the start of their working life.

Great intro book!
Really great book that outlines all the basics in the first half and gets into more details in the second half. I saw Manisha speak at a conference and was inspired to revamp my savings program and purchase her book. A great quick read (finished it over the weekend), but still very practical and easy to understand.

Value Adding for the Right Audience
I am very interested in personal finance and a supporter of financial literacy for women. Having extensive knowledge on the subject, expectedly the book has not been very impressive. However, I would like to give the authors credit as they do well to cover a variety of subjects from credit scores, insurance types, car loans, and mortgages to investing, retirement saving and financial planning. The authors also successfully use the power of numbers to make some of their motivational messages convincing. I also found the section on how to manage your finances when you are in a committed relationship empowering for women who struggle to raise their financial voices in their relationships. On the other hand, I think the authors generally do not go beyond providing common sense financial recommendations (such as limiting the number of credit cards you have, contributing to an emergency savings account, having an insurance, choosing a mutual fund with minimal management fees etc.)which focus more on whats rather than hows. Potential readers can easily find similar advices through a simple web search. Some of the critical advices provided (power trio of budgeting, investing in index funds etc.)are also too generic and unsubstantiated.Despite such drawbacks, the book can still be a reasonably value adding guidance for the right audience, the audience who can rate themselves on lower echelons of financial literacy and who do not have complex personal financing needs.
