Mossberg 500A 12 Gauge Spring

Great tension, this will last for years.

As you can see by the photo, the Remington TAC-14 (hardwood) comes with a factory +1 extension; unfortunately the spring is the same length as the tube and does not provide enough tension on the shells for reliable feeding. When the spring arrived, I thought that it may need to be trimmed due to its length, especially with 3" shells. After installing I was pleasantly surprised that the tension issue was resolved and five 3" shells fed without any issues. Remington, if you are listening... This is an issue.

I bought this spring not for a Mossberg 500A, but for my Remington TAC14 12 gauge which also has a +1 extension on it. The stock TAC14 mag spring felt very week, even though it still fed rounds ok.The stock spring had 30 coils and was shorter than this new spring, which has 35 coils. I installed the new mag spring and immediately loaded five rounds which is this gun's mag capacity (and matches the capacity on a typical 18.5" Mossberg 500A). The force needed to load shells into the tube, while stiffer, was still relatively easy to do and the shells being released from the shell stops into the loading port was much stronger.I intend to actually shoot with my TAC14 tomorrow, but don't expect I'll need to add any further info to this review.
