Interesting
Very good book about early American life. This is not your typical history book. This is more a day in the life of a historic figure.

Superb contents, superb condition
I love this book! Had to read it for a uni history class! I loved reading about Noah’s daily life on the new rural land, from where he was born and raised! I can identify because ai was raised in the countryside!I didn’t ever get to purchase it, but vowed I one day would! This copy arrived in superb condition, & in fact is brand new!

One of my favorite books as a Youth
For years, this book sat by the bed I slept in when I visited my grandparents (which was probably 1000 days as a child!) I reached for this diary all the time - to read about projects Noah did with his father, about the simple ways they solved common problems, about the tools and types of wood and engineering considerations early Americans worked through. The diagrams and drawings are fantastic (like all Sloane books) and even as an adult I could conjure up those pictures in my mind fondly. I bought this larger hardcover version for my kids and my 2nd son loves it. I think that for any child that loves to build things and solve problems, this is a great book to own.

Great book about a time gone by
I've always enjoyed Eric Sloane's drawings, but with this book he couples his beautiful drawings with a diary kept by a young man living during the early 19th century. What life was like back then is presented in a unique way with some of the more obscure references explained and/or embellished by Sloane. In short, this book is a understated masterpiece that not only presents a time capsule of what once was, but also helps the reader understand how much has been lost along the way.

The Pioneer Lifestyle
This book should be required reading for all children. The story provides a an exceptional view into the life of an early American boy with all of the joys and limitations involved with a life without electricity, cars or supermarkets. Windows and sugar were not available except as rare treats. But people had lives of great joy and purpose without all of these modern conveniences. A valuable lesson for all in the modern world.

My tweens love this
My 9 year old son just loves this book. He studies the drawings and has really piqued his interest in American history. He applies the knowledge and perseverance to his sports life as well. Highly recommended!
