Four Stars
Good story line, and definitely a page turner. Enjoy if right up to the last page.

Brilliant for three quarters of the book, but the 'twists' are a bit obvious and the ending felt disappointing.
Brilliant for three quarters of the book, but the 'twists' are a bit obvious and the ending felt disappointing.Evie, the main character, was likeable and believable, but some of the details felt a bit too unlikely, bumping into her ex - boyfriend (who happened to be single) while arranging her fathers funeral, going to the coffee shop and her brother working that day and time etc. The message seems to be that the loss of her child and suffering from her husbands betrayal has been punishment enough for her mothers actions, but this doesn't cover the time before her marriage and someone with her psychopathic tendencies is surely a continuing danger?Worth a read but I wish the ending had been more satisfying!

A really good read.
This is an enjoyable read. I found the storyline very plausible, and the characters easy to like and well defined with. The story starts with the death of a father, and the daughter returning home for the funeral. We soon learn that this family have been struggling for years with the tragic death of the a son. The daughter relates in a clear manner how her live was altered the day her brother died. This is a topic I found to be well handled by the author. I also grew up in the shadow of a sibling dying at a young age.I related to much of the text and I can't remember reading a book where this subject has ever been explored. There is many twists and turns in the book which keep you interested until the end. The subject matter is serious but the story is often funny and engaging. I would recommend this book as an easy read on a subject that is both complex and difficult, however the author weaves her majic to make it a great read. Well done, I will read any Annabell Kantaria books in future.

the author added too much unnecessary detail which did nothing to set the scene
This book started off really interesting and held my attention for most of the time. However, towards the end, just when I was trying to predict the ending, as you do, it began to tail off a bit. In what seemed an obvious attempt to increase the volume or word count, the author added too much unnecessary detail which did nothing to set the scene. I did persist because I really wanted to discover what was lies and what was truth but if I am honest I scanned through at least the last quarter of the book. The ending was a shock and not what I was expecting and I can only assume it was left that way to prepare for a sequel.
