This is one of those items that you get and hope you never hear. I just had it go off a few days ago due to a leaking connection under the sink. The alarm went off and I received a notice on my phone as well, I ran to go look under the sink and sure enough there was a few spots that were wet...I was impressed at how sensitive it was. This was not a major leak, were probably talking about 1 teaspoon of water around the sensor, but it worked and let me know I need to do some more pipe repair.

I’ve had problems with these moisture sensors beeping for no apparent reason at all. I’ve had success disconnecting the horn from the device just to try to extend the longevity, but this decreases the effectiveness. But I can’t seem to find the reason why they’re beeping nor am I able to get them to reset. I have about 10 of these in my house, and have had 2 of them fail. Overall, I love my Abode devices. But the moisture sensors have been somewhat disappointing.

I purchased four of these over a year ago distributed on both floors of my home and have had so many false alarms that I have removed them from the system completely. I do live in South Florida with high humidity levels however I have measured moisture at both the alarm and the extension and the levels are not excessive enough to cause an alarm trigger. I am extremely happy with the base station, mini window/door sensor, and recessed door sensors. Unfortunately these water sensors are flawed to the point where I cannot count on them for an actual water event. I consider the purchase a mistake and would not recommend them based on my experience.

Does the job. But when it sounds the alarm there is no way to turn it off from the phone app. And, worse, there is no silence button on it either. Actually there is but because it’s called “learn” it’s hidden from the user. Poor design which destroys the rating for an otherwise good sensor.

This abode sensor is really useful to have. I bought a few and installed them under the hot water heater, behind the washer, and under the water pipe entering the house. There are sensors on the bottom of the unit, and a water-sensitive cable is included to cover more area.
