More silly than scary - Rock and Roll demons and killer Muppets tempt small town teens.
This is more on the silly side of horror—but sometimes silly is exactly what we want. Complete with fun rubber demons, evil Muppets, and rock music-induced murder, this is a solid B-movie choice. From its very outset I’m not so sure what to make of this obscure 80s gem (in terms of tone). The opening scene depicts monstrous zombie-like demons playing a rock and roll concert. The lead singer (Sal Viviano; The Jitters) somewhat resembles the creature from The Terror Within (1989) with feathered 80s rocker hair, the guitarist (Frank Dietz; Zombie Nightmare, Tales of Halloween) resembles a sort of goblin zombie, and the others are just crusty chunky-latex zombie dudes. I’d like to see Rawhead Rex (1986) in the mosh pit! This rock band (Black Roses) is on tour and bringing a small town its first ever rock concert, which has teenagers intrigued and parents in furious boycotting mode. With increased exposure to the Black Roses’ music, the local teenagers become more criminally delinquent and diabolically amorous.I feel like more effort went into the rock songs than the special effects (although both were enjoyable). A hokey, very low budget, generally PG-13 vibe persists as we are introduced to a clumsy hand-puppeteered demon that gorelessly swallows a parent into a stereo speaker and students are rock and rolled into rubber zombie muppets. Although for its weakness in violence (i.e., early in the film), I was surprised by the abundant TnA—being by far the most mature aspect of the movie. But everything starts to feel more “R-rated” later on as students are slitting their throats and bloodily bludgeoning them to death. The best scene had to be when a girl is attacking her teacher and turns into a gangly long-necked rubber demon (I’m reminded of Evil Dead 2’s Henrietta) which he fends off with a tennis racket. The lackluster finale culminates in a sort of King Koopa rubber-suited reptilian monster that is defeated by a swift kick in the groin and a rather unmenacingly small fire.Director John Fasano (Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare, The Jitters) delivers something far more silly than scary. The score (not the band’s music) is surprisingly light-hearted, almost something from a family or adventure film. It’s… playful and anything but dire until deep in the running time. This has the spunky appeal of Leprechaun (1993) and, honestly, I often enjoy that!

Heavy Metal Music Horror Masterpiece
This is a heavy metal music/horror movie and is totally awesome, after making a deal with the devil for fame and success a rock bank ( Black Roses ) comes to town unbeknownst to the nice town folk they are demonic. They travel around from place to place performing, spreadind evil, corrupting teens, and reekting havoc gaining themselves power, popularity, fame, and big time success. It soon becomes the task of a teen guy to battle them and save the townFor example you have the pretty sweet innocent wouldn't hurt a fly blond girl next door who after listening to their music turns into a gorgeous sexy temptress dressed in black and kills someone, other teens transform in various ways This film features music by ( Lizzy Borden, song Me Against The World ) and other rock performers, I freaking love the music in this. Another one is ( Trick Or Treat ) starring Tony Fields as the singer who does a satanic ritual, later on dies in a fire, a kid buys their album and starts playing it backwards a voice starts telling him how to get revenge on his bullies he does, 1 cool special affect is ightening shoots out of his guitar. This is another Heavy Metal Music/Horror masterpiece it is perfect with this one

Still the best of the 80s heavy metal horror films
I am a big fan of the 80s music oriented horror films such as Rock n' Roll Nightmare, Slumber Party Massacre 2, Terror on Tour, Shock 'em Dead (which has yet to see a dvd release), Trick or Treat, etc. and this is my favorite one. Rock n' Roll Nightmare is probably a close 2nd place, but this film has better special effects, funnier characters, and is even more bizarre and unpredictable. I ordered this DVD as soon as I heard it was coming out. My VHS copy was one of my most treasured films because it was so hard to find and long out of print. I am glad this one didn't slip into obscurity.

Metal camp!
Fun cheesy film. This film took place at the height of the 1980s Satanic Panic era. This is a cool take on that whole time period. The monsters are fun and handmade. Check it out. Also, check out Fasano’s Rock N Roll Nightmare. It is an amazingly awesome film.

Black Roses
A Heavy metal cult classic from the 1980s. This movie, with its hard driving, blood boiling, heavy metal songs is sure to please! The demon song (one of my favorates) titled,"We against the world," is performed awesomely! The human disguised, Demon rock musicans really put on a show and terrorize a small bible thumping town! This movie will entertain and scare you too! I loved it! Check it out!

Pour les fans de Heavy Metal
J'ai bien aimé ce film qui est entre la comédie et le film d'horreur. Le côté kitch des années 80 et la musique hard rock, école secondaire et petite ville, un beau mélange.
