Really stupid and offensive
What a shame. Got to page 29 where I read "The charity was called Nantucket's Children; it was for people who cared deeply about children, which generally meant having one or more of your own." Stopped reading this book and will never buy another one by this author. Many people who do not have children (either by choice or due to circumstances beyond their control) care DEEPLY for children. You just lost a fan.

Not one of Hilderbrand's best...rather depressing, actually.
I don't expect happy endings, nor do I desire them...but the ending of this book is such a disappointment. 350+ pages of build-up, and then nothing. I can't say more without giving away spoilers, but this is definitely not my favorite Elin Hilderbrand book.

Fast Reading
This is a good beach read book, even though I'm recovering from surgery & this is the fourth book I've read by this author all in 2 weeks. Her work is fast reading & each novel has a different twist. The ending is just too good to be true, no one suffers any consequences for their behavior. No moral standards were set, but I will say that is closer to reality today. I loved "The Identicals", "The Rumor" was funny, I've read her 3 winter books. I will switch to a different author but I do intend to read all her books in the future.

Always a good read from Elin Hildebrand
Elin makes Nantucket a major character in her books, far beyond just a setting for the rest of the players. Beth has recently lost her lawyer husband Arch in a plane accident in a twist of fate while defending his client, a woman accused of murder. Beth is on her annual summer trek to Nantucket with her twins and Arch’s client’s son Marcus. Each in their own way grieves for Arch’s absence as they wend their way through traditional Nantucket beach outings, picnics, and ocean swims. Their family meets another single parent family—David and his two daughters. David and Beth share a secret past which hovers over the two families as they intertwine over a typical Nantucket summer. I often reach for an Elin Hildebrand novel when I’m looking for a warm story with relatable characters and a compelling read. Summer People is exactly that read.

Good, but not my favorite Hilderbrand novel
I love all of Elin Hilderbrand’s books! This novel was interesting & kept me engaged like all of the others; however, I didn’t like the way the story ended so simply. In real life, the next morning, everything would have been discovered...the affair, the embezzlement, etc. I wish the author had given more thought toward wrapping up all of the drama rather than ending without any resolution. Although I didn’t care for the ending, I have purchased my next novel, and I can’t wait for more Nantucket fun and drama!

No morals!
My least favorite Elian Hilderbrand book! Ugh! Wish I’d read reviews first. People doing crappy things to other people and feeling little remorse. Adultery is not charming even on Nantucket.

I wanted a beach read and this fit the bill ...
I wanted a beach read and this fit the bill. The characters had enough depth to keep my attention. I wanted a book whose characters were of a certain age and with that, the challenges we face as we approach middle age. All in all this book was just the type of read I was looking for.

Not my favourite ....
My least favourite of all Elin Hildebrand’s books. Didn’t particularly like any of the characters or the descriptions of their life on Nantucket, which is most unusual for an EH novel as I normally absolutely love them. I suppose I should have realised the theme of the book from the title, but there was just something rather unsavoury about this particular affair. Perhaps this was a much earlier novel as those from the last couple of years have been so much absorbing!

Another cracking book from Elon Hilderbrand.
I loved this book.Set on Nantucket -as all of Elin's books are. It tells the story of a grieving family who go on their usual family holiday after their lawyer father has died. They also take with them the son of a woman who their father defended on a murder charge in what turned out to be his last case.
