Stunning Coffee Grinder
Sleek, elegant and effective, this is a quality piece of kit. It’s quiet as well, a bonus I wasn’t expecting. The only slight downside is the glass receiver. Great that it is glass, not plastic, but it is thin glass - very breakable - so extra care is required. That apart, brilliant!

Too coarse
Unable to effectively grind for filter - never mind espresso.

Lasts a decade.
These grinders are robust and long-lived. Ours lasted 12 years before the engine burned out (which is what will happen to any electrric grinder). The finest grind is not superfine - but it makes great coffee. The glass looks fragile but it lasted 12 years. Being a good burr grinder this machine is not quiet - it has no suppressor or baffles - but it’s not too noisy either. I recommend it.

What you see is not what you get
On pure aesthetics alone, rather than functionality, this would warrant a 5 star rating. It looks beautiful, is substantial and speaks of high quality in every respect. However, its primary function is to grind beans to a variety of sizes in order to make a range of coffees - from the coarser drip over, filter and cafetières to the finer espressos. And here is where it fails completely - particularly in ensuring the necessary precision grind for an espresso. Despite being able to manually alter the settings, this is a stepped grinder and it is impossible to attain a sufficiently nuanced setting to ensure an optimal espresso grind. The result is either under or over extraction, leaving on the one hand a drink without body and crema or on the other, an unpleasant bitter coffee. So, our machine merely sits on the work surface and looks beautiful in favour of a stepless grinder which is functionally perfectly.

Worth the price
I looked at various coffee grinders and already own the KitchenAid coffee maker. The coffee grinder does an excellent job and is much better made than most other products. A premium price, but worth it in my view.

Beautiful but not fit for purpose
I wanted a good coffee grinder for our espresso machine, my wife wanted a grinder that went well with the kitchen ... and that is why we purchased this KitchenAid Artisan coffee grinder. And it is a beeautiful grinder. Love the fact is it made of metal, with a big knob to set the coarseness of the grind. It all feel very durable and well-build, with one exception and that is the container for the ground coffee. It is made of glass and feel quite fragile. If it was just for that it would get 5 stars, but I have given it 1 star because KitchenAid claims the grind is fine enough for espresso coffee (and that is why I purchased it). When I first unpacked it, the grind was very coardse (in its finest setting) more like filter coffee. It also showed in the results, an espresso without any crema resembling more black tea than anything else. Then I opened the grinder (as per the instructions) to manually adjust the settings so that the grind was at its finest ... the results were visibly better, but still let than store-bought ground espresso coffee or the results using Italian grinders in the same price-category like Gaggia, Quickmill or Raciano.Unfortunately I cannot use this grinder. So if you are using it for anything else than espresso, by all means this is a beautiful well-made grinder ... but if you are an espresso drinker find something else.
