Raccoon made a Big Hole in the other one I had
This is such a wonderful way to say I love you to a squirrel. The Mom had babies, 3 of them and went down by the feeder and didn't realize the baby was in the feeder. She was sitting in it eating seed. I startled her a little, boy was she cute looking out the hole. I told her it was ok. Then I walked further away to let her eat with my parrot on my shoulder. The look of that baby, was so precious and when the crows are out, the babies come running up to me. It is worth every penny to get one of these for the little clowns. I have a peanut ring. Tip - they will go through seed, corn and anything you put out in one day, so don't fill the feeders full, just half way and the peanut ring just so there is some on the bottom. Costs can really add up feeding the animals. I love them so much, but they do depend on the food way too much otherwise and won't get their own. So it is best to just feed half or so many cups a day or even every other day. So fun to have. Raccoons are cute too, but can really destroy a feeder. I had a lady bug once and it took the whole feeder and I never found it from that day on. This one is well built and even has the screws to attach to the tree. Nice jar and you can get replacement jars for about $10, good to have a second one. Every now and then one will fall or get knocked down by another critter and broken. I have seen plastic ones as well, but I have glass. I Highly recommend this feeder. Very Well made.

Fun to watch squirrels and birds eat.
we had a feeder like this before. The broke - because of a racoon ? Suggest using a bungee cord to secure the bottle.

Oh Oh - Blue Jays CAN Get Trapped In the Jar!
UPDATE: We've now had to rescue two Blue Jays who were trapped in the jar. We are finding that unless we stuff the jar with corn cobs (resting on top of the peanuts), the Blue Jays will go into the jar. All the way in. They then cannot get out so we must rescue them. We are now only putting the jar out if we can stuff it properly with corn cobs (along with peanuts for the squirrels) and are home to rescue the Jays if they get stuck in the jar. Not sure how to resolve this, but other than that, we love the feeder (and so do the squirrels and 'Jays). ORIGINAL REVIEW: Received the squirrel feeder yesterday and we set it up last night in a safe area on our front deck. I was wondering how long it would take our squirrel family to figure out how to use this (we filled it with whole peanuts and a corncob made for squirrels) but I needn't have worried. By the time we woke up in the morning they had it all figured out and the peanuts were half gone. The Blue Jays did not like this new set up one bit. They were tapping furiously on the jar now and again and I was very glad that this gallon jar is so thick and substantial and can take the beak-beating they were giving it. We are having so much fun watching our squirrels run past the 'jays to grab their treats. I can almost hear them saying "Neener, neener, neener" as they run by! I like the home-made look and feel of this feeder and it is well made and easy to install. We aren't going to stain or seal ours in case the critters chew on the wood so we'll see how it holds up in our coastal environment over time. Don't hesitate to buy!

Love it!!!!’
Love this feeder for the squirrels & birds. The cute birds mostly Tufted Titmouse go in one hole grab a sunflower seed then fly out the other side, too cute. I love being able to see the critters inside the jar from far away. I highly recommend this feeder. Thanks a bunch. 🤗

Fabulous feeder & really well constructed
I love these! I now have 2 from Uncle Dunkel I bought the most recent one a month ago but my first Uncle Dunkel squirrel feeder was purchased at least 12 years ago and it is still in great shape! My very first one looks like a log cabin and it’s lasted 30 years. These things last forever and provide hours of entertainment, not to mention good eats for the squirrels! Now that I am working from home I decided I wanted one within view from my desk. I only fill the jar once a month and it lasts for a little over a week....I want to be careful that the squirrels do not become totally dependent on this feeder. I use black oil sunflower with a few unsalted peanuts in the shell and I mix in some diatomaceous earth also to help with control of parasites. I HIGHLY recommend this feeder. Uncle Dunkel does a great job, they last forever, and they are the best squirrel feeder I’ve ever found!

Not worth for the price.
It's not worth for the price. and my Glass jar was damaged, and when requested for a replacement, the seller responded that they do not sell these ones anymore. However I do see the listing again for sale. Do not recommend this product.
