Kwik Sew's Beautiful Lingerie

The book itself is in good condition, but missing the pattern pages needed to work with the information in the book.

Even though the styles of some of the garments that are in this book might seem "dated", it is a great book to have. The patterns are basic patterns that can be modified with a little bit of imagination, so you can make the items as simple or as fancy as you want. The true value of these books by Kerstin Martensson is the instructions she gives. She shows how to do everything step by step, very clearly, and she gives you a few basic tips on how to modify these patterns to get an almost unlimited array of garments.The other valuable thing about these books is that the master pattern that it has comes in several sizes, usually from Small to XL, so you can do stuff not only for yourself but as gifts for your mother, daughter, or a friend. The only thing that is missing from this book, which is a pity, is a basic bra pattern. A classic brief and a high cut brief patterns are included, which have suited me perfectly. Kwik Sew offers other patterns for lingerie that are sold on their website; I have completed my "undewear" patterns by purchasing a bra pattern that I love from Kwik Sew's site.I own not only this book but also "Kwik Sew Swim and Action Wear" (which include swimsuits, leotards and other garments) and the one named "Easy Sewing the Kwik Sew Way". Both those books, along with this one, have allowed me to make myself a complete wardrobe that I have enjoyed wearing.

Every sewist need this book. The author, Kerstin Martensson, was a visionary. She developed Kwik Sew sewing patterns. This book is a master class on sewing beautiful lingerie. She makes it look easy, which ultimately, it is. With the right materials and instructions.

This is a classic in the sewing world. There are basic patterns for all sorts of lingerie in the master pattern set, and the directions for sewing lingerie are of course wonderfully done, as this was in the good old days of KWIK SEW when it was all Kerstin Martensson. She passed away some years ago and now KWIK SEW is a Simplicity name. Grab this book to learn the basics of construction for lingerie, and overlook the comments about "outdated". Imagination will allow anyone to construct what they would want in a look, using the techniques this book covers. Lace attachment alone is worth the price. Every technique from lingerie elastic application to lace inserts is here. I bought it to use the techniques, not the patterns so much. But I find the patterns very good, They are well drafted and give you a start to many a lovely garment.

I bought this intending to make a long and short half slip when I couldn't find one. I was amazed at how easy that was so, with some extra fabric and some beautiful lace trim I had squirreled away forever, I whipped up a teddy-the results were amazing. While showing my projects off to friends and family I got a LOT of requests for one for them too so I started churning out teddys, half slips, baby dolls, panties nighties. Perfect gifts for birthdays and showers. I am truly amazed at how pretty and expensive these things are and how truly easy they are to make. The ones with contrasting lace trims are as pretty as anything you could buy at a fraction (fraction should have been in caps) of the cost overall, I am blown away at how easy these projects are to make.

I have purchased this book - twice! - from Amazon Marketplace, and both times, the book came with no patterns. One of the listings even claimed the book was "new." So apparently, the only way to guarantee that you'll receive the patterns is to buy new from Amazon.That said, the tips for sewing lingerie fabrics, attaching lace, etc., are pretty thorough. Yes, the photos and a few of the patterns are dated; just don't make a teddy with high-cut sides if you don't want to look 1985. Otherwise, many of the patterns still work for today. That is, IF you get patterns!

Its an oldie but has the useful quality of classic patterns. Clear instructions and master patterns. I like to use 5/8 seams,so I added 3/8.

Thank you. I thought there would be an opportunity to be able to draft a step by step instruction for a basic pattern for your own shape, giving you the challenge to make your own fitted lingerie and follow the make up instructions therein in the book. This would have been a gem. Cheers!
