Holy Moley this dragon rocks!
Wow! This miniature is fantastic. Bought it as a reward to myself for finishing my basement. I'm a miniature collector and have over 1,000 minis I use when DM'ing to include several huge miniatures. This thing puts them all to shame. In my collection the only comparable mini for "bad-a$$-ness" is Orcus and the Colossal Red Dragon is much bigger. The detail is fantastic, especially the head and wings. The breath weapon jet of flames actually looks pretty good (I was a little worried it would be too "hoakey" but it works). Bear in mind the physical dimensions of this "miniature" are imposing - make sure you have at least an "egg crate" worth of free space to display properly. This Dragon is now the anchor of my collection, displayed upon a high perch above the rest and never fails to evoke comments and discussion upon first sight. I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

The biggest of them all
This "miniature" is one of the biggest ever that is still to scale with the standard D&D sized minis. The construction is well-done, as is the paintjob, and it depicts a truly massive red dragon quasi-rearing up as if to strike downward or to breathe a gout of flame (more on that in a moment).I've already had the chance to pull this big boy out and use it in game (a PC shapechanged into a colossal red dragon), and it is quite impressive when actually placed on a battle mat and set against other figures. The weirdest thing is that it makes the gargantuan black dragon, which, when I first got it, seemed immense, now look positively puny! Those are the good points of the mini. But there are two bad points. The first is important IMO. For reasons I cannot quite understand, they made the mini the wrong size. Yep. A colossal red dragon is supposed to be 30 ft square. This one is 40 ft square. Now, as some have pointed out, the definition of colossal in the Monster Manual says colossal creatures are AT LEAST 30 ft square, but can be bigger. But the red dragon entry in the Monster Manual only lists 30 ft square as the proper size of a colossal red dragon. Can I, as a DM, rationalize an extra 10 ft? Yeah. But it is still an annoying thing...and sometimes even more. As a DM I might have designed a cavern or dungeon to fit a colossal red dragon and made the halls 30 ft wide. Oops! Now my red dragon mini doesn't even fit in my dungeon! It also distorts the reach of the dragon. A 30 ft square dragon with reach threatens many fewer squares than a 40 ft square dragon with reach. This can make a large difference in combat. But really, the increase simply seems unecessary. Why did WOTC make it bigger than the proper size? What compelling reason was there to do this? None that I can think of.Devin

A True Icon of Dungeons and Dragons
A sound like a freight train coming through the woods. The awesome power of dragons has always been the ultimate foe in D&D and fantasy in general. This figure is amazing in its detail, size and true to the game design. As a purely game figure or miniature you will unlikely use it more then a few times, so if this is your only reason to purchase it, it's price is a large factor. But, if you are a collector of dragons (like I am) the Colossal Red Dragon is a wonderful addition to your display. Mine had a prominent place on my fireplace mantle in the basement where we play D&D.. it is watching, waiting for the PCs to take that one fatal misstep.

Why so expensive?
Way too expensive. This item is priced by the manufacturer at $400. This is highway robbery.

As big as my cats!
I knew this thing was going to be big, but Wow! It's about the size of a small house cat. That's a pretty big "miniature." The paint scheme is very good for something mass produced, as is the level of detail. Sitting this thing down next to the player's character miniatures is very intimidating, as a dragon of this size should be. The fire is removable, so if you don't like it, you don't have to use it. I'll admit, it's not my favorite part of the mini. My only complaint is the packaging. They've used industrial-strength twist ties to secure this to the inside of the packaging, then taped them down. It takes a very long time to get this sucker out of the box. A good pair of wire cutters will go far here.

Great for really scaring your players
Biggest mini I've ever seen. Great for really scaring your players. Bit pricey on here though. Seen it cheaper elsewhere.

Imposing, but is so flatly red it looks nearly unpainted.
The size is ridiculously imposing. Almost unusable in game play. The other gargantuan dragons are a heartstopping threat, but are a little more plausible to actually put into play. Disappointingly the smaller gargantuan figures, from the Blue, White and Black as well as Orcus, all seem to have more detail in their paint job as well. The red on red on red is lost on me with this figure. There is little separation of detail in his face to make his eyes and teeth pop out nicely. His arms kind of disappear against the red of his body. Just some variation and extra attention to this to make the deep and bright reds more dynamic and this thing would at least be a great display piece. The Skyrim special edition dragon might not be as big as this thing, but the detail and variation in color tones make it a great looking shelf display. For the price this thing just seems like a nice, scary piece of red plastic. Nearly unpainted in appearance. If you're handy with a brush, this has the potential of being beautiful.

High Detail, Fun for the Game, Amazing Addition to any Collection.
Truly amazing. It is HUGE. Very high detail. The paint job is superb. Fun for usage in the game, but most of the time it just sits on the shelf looking cool. If you collect dragons, this is a must have. The fire he belches is removable. I think it looks better without it. Will become harder to find and more rare/valuable over time since it is out of print. No self respecting fantasy loving owner will part with this one easily...I never will.

Epic !

Mythique
Cette figurine est digne de ce qu'elle représente, le Mythique Dragon rouge qui térrorise des générations de joueurs, totalement indispensable! Probablement la plus belle réussite de cette collection.
