Chill Brazil
These two C.Ds are just brilliant. If you're just getting into Brazillian music or you're familiar with it,this is the one for you. Hot balmy nights, cold drink in your hand and good company,PUT THIS ON! I have a lot of friends from Brazil, and they all reckon they feel homesick when they hear this late at night. This is a good compilation to chill to as it has such a good cross section of artists to satisfy the most discerning listener.

Nice gift item
for a friend from Brazil - many familiar artists. Should buy a second copy for myself - too bad there is no download copy.

Eclectic Mix of Brazilian Music
This is a wonderful, eclectic collection of bossa nova, funk, MPB and even one example of bossa nova's current fusion with bass music. It was put together by legendary artist, Marcos Valle. Some songs are better than others, but overall it's a wonderful CD definitely not worth missing!

Good Combination of the Old and New from....
Marcos Valle! He is the one that put this double disc set together - and included are a few exclusive Marcos Valle tracks as well, and a booklet about the music and etc.The artists infolved range from the new to the old. You have a few of Bebel Gilberto's tracks and you have some of the older tracks from Antonio Carlos Jobim and even Azymouth. All in all - this is a pretty solid cd, and with all of the "new" Brazil cd's out, it's kind of nice to hear the older music which inspired the new wave and rebirth of the sound.I recommend this. It's a great piece in my collection although admittedly, it was taken from me by a friend and I haven't seen it since!

True Brazilian Chill with Brazilian Jazz & Bossa Novas * * *
This is a true Brazilian Gem, especially since these cuts were picked by a true legend: Marcos Valle. We have here a little bit of everything for everybody; Brazilian Jazz cuts, Bossa Nova classics performed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto; MPB (Pop-type of music from Brasil), etc. etc.But what I think is the most important factor in this compilation is the introduction Marcos Valle does to many of us of great Brazilian groups and artists that hardly make it outside Brasil. If you are a TRUE Brazilian music fan, get this CD, it's a gem..............

GRAN COMPILACION!!!

Formidable

Where it all began..............
The original "Chill Brazil" collection, of which i have only just acquired my own copy. This one is a decent regrouping of 36 "sexy soul bossa" tracks, mixing some vintage songs with more Brazilelectro type material. As with the other volumes, it is rather difficult to like all the choices which have been made. Some artists are simply more worthwhile than others. The first disc gets things off to a great start, however, as with the second volume of the "Chill Brazil" series. The first seven tracks are of the very highest quality, including Milton Nascimento's "Mas Que Nada", Azymuth's soothing "Voo Sobre O Horizonte" and the lovely "Wave" from Joao Gilberto. Thereafter, the remaining selections are much patchier, with the exception of the very pretty "1800 Colinas" from Paula Toller. The second disc fails, regrettably, to hit the heights of the first. The selections are "okay", as such, but not really of the earth-shattering variety. Tom Jobim's version of "Garota da Ipanema" is okay. Likewise, Joao Gilberto's "Tim Tim Por Tim Tim". Os Cariocas' rendition of "Tarde Em Itapoa" is a highlight, because it is such a truly winsome song. The second disc rather seems to fade a little, after the half-way point.Others may well disagree with this somewhat severe assessment of "Chill Brazil". My personal feeling, as with the second volume, is that there isn't enough "great" material to stretch this into a double cd. A five-star single cd, perhaps. (Or a notional "Chill Brazil 1.5", mixing the highlights of the first two volumes!) Consequently, this is another set to buy at the "right price".

hoped for something better
OK so my musical tastes are not very sophisticated ,but I wanted what it said on the cover. The music reminded me of the sort of film scores used in not very good late 1960/70 films and to my mind did not make a very "chill" experience

Pensavo meglio
