Worked great on my 2nd attempt at install--the error was my fault.The side wiring screws were basically impossible to use. The screws don't give enough room to wrap a 14 gauge wire around them. The back wiring option for the white and black wire rear ports have two options. Look at the diagram closely for which options to use (top for black, bottom for white). I didn't look closely and neither USB worked after install. I looked closer and noticed my mistake...I put both wires in the top slots. I corrected my mistake and the outlet works just fine now.

Poor design! Binding screws are too short. The nuts for the screws are floating, so if you screw out too far you just wasted $14 as you can no longer attach the wire. Plus, since the nuts are floating, you have to have the screw heads in down position to insert the wire around the screw. The person who designed this , must not have ever install it in the real world. At least one of the two that I ordered worked.

DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY. THIS LIKE MANY ITEMS NOW ON AMAZON IS FAULTY, NOT WHAT STATED ( 2 outlets only got one) screw where wire attaches does not catch and is too shallow. Once off it never works again! Soooo plan B another 45 min as you try to work United States gauge electric wire vs the chicken wire that passes for electric wire in the Pandemic Capitol of the world. I’m so very DONE! 2 wasted hrs...

In my view this is an excellent product. It does exactly what it specifies. The USB outlet charges my phone in about the same time as the factory supplied charger. Regarding installation, I agree with other reviewers. It will be a challenge If the original outlet was barely squeezed in. This is exactly what happened in my case. This outlet is not only deeper (standard outlet is 3/4" deep, this one is 1 3/4"). It is also wider but it will fit into a regular size junction box. In my case the junction box was partially covered by tile. My husband had to use his Dremel tool in order to grind down the tile. With this obstacle out of the way, the outlet was installed successfully. Some reviewers expressed concern about a flimsy design of the wire connections. I did not observe this. The connections were sturdy enough. My advice to every one who run into difficulties during the installation: Hang in there. You will be happy once it's finished and it works.

It could be a little tricky to install because the copper wires need to be looped around the bolt instead of being inserted in the hole. Also, if you untighten the bolt too far, the internal plate inside the unit will just move around on its own making the installation process very frustrating, at least for me it was. The easiest way of installing would be untightening the bolt just enough so that the straightened copper wire can slide in, loop it around the bolt using a plyer, and then screw the bolt down. I learned this the hard way.

While it worked it was great but now its not only a waste of my hard earned cash but also my time to remove and replace this unit.One of the USBs just quit charging. :(I purchased these less than 6 months ago and installed them less than 4 months ago.Not a quality product as it didn't stand the test of longevity!Have a great day!

Very poor quality overall and it showed when this one turned out to be defective. I verified it by tearing it apart and finding the problem. Spend $10 more for a quality outlet and stay away from this one. I have no doubt that the vast majority will work when you purchase them, but you will be disappointed in how cheap they look and feel.

Half the price on other brands sold at Lowes and HD. But it feels flimsy. The safety Tamper Resistant covers in the plug feels like breaking off every time I plug something in. The suggested, frequently bought together "Madison Electric Products MSB1G One Gang Device Box with Depth Adjustable, Heavy Duty 42lb " is not going to work. The mounting bracket is in the way and will not fit this receptacle. I'm using a power strip in to it. Hope it will last a long time.
