Bloch Dance Men's Jazz Oxford Leather Sole Character Shoe

Product arrived without shoelaces.

Nice shoes. But many reviews said they run small. I contacted blocks customer service and they said to buy a size smaller than my normal street

I don't know why they insisted on designing a dance shoe that has such a high rise across the side of shoe where the ankle bone is located. It doesn't provide any additional support and only serves to make this shoe almost impossible to dance in without getting skin abrasions and sores near the ankle bone. It especially becomes bothersome on the outside of the shoe. I was able to finally get a reasonable fit using fairly heavily padded shoe insert. It allowed enough lift (for the most part) to eliminate the continual rubbing I had been getting without them. The shoe does seem to be well made so I have decided to keep them. They have a nice look and I like the leather bottoms as opposed to the felt that some dance shoes have. The fit for me was just a bit long but the width seemed comfortable then as I tend to wear a EE vs D in mens shoes quite often. I don't feel any tightness in the width part of the shoe near the front of the foot.

The first pair of dance shoes I ever bought were Bloch and so I stick with them because I enjoy a consistent feel and sizing between my different shoes (Albeit they were out of stock in my size and I had to get a size up because I needed shoes ASAP). Was excited for a solid leather bottom instead of seude leather. The leather gave a feeling of more consistent speed on poor dance surfaces but I was disappointed that after stepping on someting (probably a small pebble that made it to the non dance area) some of the leather chipped off in two areas so there is a small crater with rough leather after only a week of use. Debated giving a lower star rating but they are very consistent for dancing even with the missing chunks of leather.

My husband had a pair of leather capezio shoes with leather soles similar to these Bloch shoes for 35 years. They no longer made them with the hard leather sole. I bought the Bloch shoes for his birthday and he loves them!! We sometimes perform ballroom dance shows outside on rough surfaces ... they are perfect!

I could wear this pair to my linedance and tango lessens. But the best use is for me to wear them when taking long flights (6 hours plus or red eyes). They let me get off the plane with tired feet in soothing glove-like soft leather. And I look ready and great from bottom up.

My grandson really liked the way they fit! We will see how he feels after dancing for hours!
