Amazing product for watercolors and gouche!
This blending medium is awesome to keep your gouache moist! It is amazing! I have a sealed pallet and I add my Turner Gouache or Windsor and Newton Gouches and mix a few drops of this medium and this keeps gouaches for a long time, on a good sealed pallet! If you want to keep your watercolors or gouaches fresh and workable, you need this!

Excellent metallic!
For some reason, Amazon has put mask reviews on this product. I use this product to not have to purchase so much metallic watercolor, and to be able to achieve the metallic color I want. I simply mix a small but fairly thick puddle of the color I want, then add in a drop or two or this medium. It adds a shiny character to it, and I use it to border all my greeting cards. This way, I can specialize…paint a metallic border for the specific colors in my cards. It is wonderful.

Worked with gouache, ok results
I bought this to add iridescence to gouache but it really just added a bit of sparkle. I wish they made a thicker medium to use with gouache but if you combine it with paint right out of the tube it doesn’t water it down too much. I just feel like Windsor and newton could do better than just a little glittery boost.

Exactly What I Needed
I saw that this is a great alternative to Wink of Stella and so I wanted to give it a try. I'm happy to report that his product is virtually the same liquid in the Wink of Stella! I am super happy with this product and it's ease of use. I will be ordering this again!

Great for beginners or first watercolour experience
Easy to apply with old brush, this prevents colour reaching predefined areas of the drawing. It’s like a wall for the watercolour! Wonderful for clean crisp lines of white. Will be using it again to paint sea turtle and leave some areas white. Very happy with it!

Essential for Texture Enthusiasts and Watercolor Abstraction!
The Winsor & Newton Water Color Granulation Medium has become a staple in my watercolor toolkit, and I find myself replenishing it every 6 months. As an artist who enjoys exploring abstraction and adding texture to my watercolor pieces, this medium has proven to be an absolute game-changer.What sets this granulation medium apart is its versatility. It beautifully enhances the granulation effect on certain watercolors, adding depth and character to my artwork. It's important to note that the degree of granulation varies between colors, and experimentation is key. I've found that the effect is more noticeable on granulating watercolors, and the magic happens when you play around with water ratios and mix it with different pigments. The Winsor & Newton brand is synonymous with quality, and this granulation medium lives up to that reputation. Not only does it deliver outstanding results, but it also comes at the best price for a product of its kind. The affordability, combined with the reliability of the W&N brand, makes it a must-have for any watercolor enthusiast looking to elevate their creative process. If you're passionate about experimenting with textures and seeking to add a unique dimension to your watercolor artworks, the Winsor & Newton Water Color Granulation Medium is an absolute gem. Highly recommended for artists who appreciate quality and value in their art supplies!

masking for watercolour
This fluid is good for blocking out small areas we want to remain white when painting watercolours. I often use it for the highlight in the eyes. I often apply it the night before I start the painting so it has a long time to dry. I use a wooden stick or tracing stick to apply the masking fluid as it can damage brushes. A dip pen also works okay, but can scratch the paper if I'm not careful. If we need a bigger area left white then it's better to just not paint that area or use masking tape cut to shape. This masking fluid is mostly for small areas. It seems to be best if removed within 2 days of applying and even then, be careful as it can tear the paper. Best to test before doing an important painting.I made the mistake of shaking it vigorously at the start and this introduced air into the mix which caused some clumps. It's much better if I stir before use instead of shake. This is user error and not a problem with the product.Basically, it behaves exactly as I expected and would be good for watercolour artists of all skill levels.
