Cast iron trammels (1 pair). Black Jappaned finish to body & steel pins. Superb quality, trade rated product. Beam compass for Carpentry & joinery. Applied geometry: Practical applications, bisecting large angles on site & scribing large arcs/circles. One trammel has vertical groove to accept a pencil. Beam & pencil locked by knurled machine screws. Remember to allow a 4-6mm gap between the vertical locking screw shoe onto top of beam. This permits adjustment to correct radius or diameter & clamping or releasing trammel head. Do not over tighten. Photos: Hi-Vis builders line, 3 : 4 : 5 right angle triangle. Large floor plans can be divided up into rooms. Chalk line or builders line to centre lines/datums. Trammel with long beam, add pencil to 1 head. You can scribe right angles from line to erect partitions for internal walls that will be 90 degrees using 3 : 4 : 5 pythagoras theorem. No frills but cheap and does the job. The device also has a mount for a pencil to scribe lines with. Not sure if the advert mentions this.

Snapped on first use when tightening. Nit cast iron but cold cast. Rubbish.

I've been wanting to buy Trammel Points for years but could never justify the cost...until I found this Proops Brothers offering on Amazon. Excellent product at an excellent price. Only a minor point but the posting quotes "Adjustable screw from 1cm - 3.5cm" but in reality your Trammel Beam will need to be 3.1cm max. I'll find another use for the 3.4cm wide 2.4m length of wood I bought.

Brilliant for running parallel lines or drawing circles/arches. I bought these to complete my toolbox more than anything, but I have to say they have come in very handy over the last few weeks. They are robust and make any job where circles are concerned, a breeze. Easy to use and can be set to any size rule/stick you need, all in all a brilliant idea that works perfect.

Only just received and tested. They seem sturdy enough to last.1 I have them well tightened on a 20mm baton & they seem fine.2 I have fitted a pencil in place of the 2nd point, the one that has the screw-up pencil holder. The pencil is a normal size one & it fits without jobbing it at all. It stays in place without any wobbling or other problems.3 To ensure the 1st point does not wander, I drilled a hole in a small piece of wastewood for its point to rotate in and used double-sided sticky tape to fix that in place during marking up.Ordered Thursday morning with standard [free] delivery selected, delivered Saturday morning.

Decent product for the money

Value for money I unscrewed one point and fitted a pencil for setting out circles ,not the best pencil holding method but it works ok
