Yuri Is My Job! 1

A girl with relentless, calculated cuteness
This came up about a month ago and that cover was enticing. Yuri Is My Job! gets off to a good start and it played with my expectations in a pleasant way. We start with Hime, a high school student. Unlike the typical sweet but confused yuri protagonist, she's not always a nice person. Her chief school ambition is to be cute and popular and long term, she wants to be a rich man's trophy wife (I imagine Hime would make a women's studies professor want to jump out of a window). A set of circumstances leaves her obliged to work at a theme cafe where the waitresses pose as private school students. Hime soon finds herself on the wrong foot with Mitsuki, a senior student/waitress, but the manager thinks it would help the cafe if they became schwesters, an upper and lower class pair bonded like sisters. It's not fun for Hime as Mitsuki is a regular drill sergeant. Hime's friend Kanoko is also pressed into service at the cafe. There is Sumika , another upper class waitress and Mai, the manager. One can feel sorry for Hime, as she is in a job where she really doesn't understand things but can also dislike her relentless, calculated cuteness. Mitsuki seems to be someone who will have quite a backstory, and Kanoko is a likeable character. Yuri Is My Job! lived up to the hopes I had for it and it will be interesting to see how the series develops. Yuri fans might have a new series well worth following.

Slow start, but good series
While Yuri Is My Job doesn't exactly get off to a perfect start, the series itself is fairly strong. The first volume shows how Hime Shiraki, a popular high schooler with a cutesy façade, gets forced to work for a cosplay salon after she accidentally injures the manager. While the premise itself seems fairly simple and quirky, there are some fairly engaging story threads being developed here, such as how Hime's coworker Mitsuki inexplicably hates her from day one, a mystery that, when solved, leads to additional questions. The characters initially come off as fairly unpleasant, from a girl who only cares about making everyone like her to the people who rope her into working at the café to a girl who can't seem to stand her, but as time goes on, they gradually develop and reveal more facets of their personality. For example, Hime's obsession with putting on a perfectly cute façade stems from what happened when others saw the "real" her and abandoned her.The volume ends with a fairly surprising twist, albeit one that is foreshadowed fairly effectively. Not only does it promise quite a bit of drama for the future, but it also causes previous scenes to be viewed in a new light. All in all, I'd recommend that you give this series a try, but would also like to add that you should try the first two volumes, rather than simply give up midway through the first.

Cute and fun
Extremely cute and fun the characters have a lot of interesting flaws and interactions that keep you drawn in. I am not generally a fan of comedy based around someone being a perpetual screw up, but this stuck a good balance and was great at keeping suspense in the story for a page turner

Kanoko best character
Kanoko is the best character. Even with her slight yandere tendencies.I hate the manager. Really hate her. I don't trust her. She's definitely a manipulator. I don't buy that she got hurt. We'll have to see were it goes from here but I enjoyed the first volume and the antics of Hime. Kanoko is the best part though.

Fast paced, mediocre art, service, but not actually yuri
This feels like cashing in on yuri's rise in popularity. It's about a high-schooler roped into working at a yuri cafe that "plays" with the tropes of yuri fandom. That could be okay, if it were a meaningful critique or paraody (Think Ouran High School Host Club). But after one volume, it isn't. Maybe it gets better. But the storytelling and art were so mediocre, and the characters so unlikable, that I won't be putting money into this anytime soon.

I'm ready to order: I'll take the second manga. Please!
I've read many yuri mangas, but Yuri is my job seems to have the best plot so far! I love the characters and their different facades that they put on. It makes the story very interesting and funny. I really enjoyed it! I can't wait to see what Hime-chan gets into next!

Yuri bait and switch
This is just yuri clickbait (and I have fairly powerful yuri goggles). The premise of the story is simply unbelievable and contrived. The drawing is nice and expressive, however.I was hoping to start a new series, but this is simply not good.

Lindo y bonito

Very appealing.
This manga was a unique and refreshing twist on the maid cafe genre. It had ups and downs, laughs and tears. It had me full of feelings throughout. I cant wait to see what volume 2 has in store.
