I keep this lighter near a candle in the living room. It is out of reach of my children, but I bought it because it has an on/off switch for extra safety. Bic lighters don’t have that feature, so you can’t forget to put them away every time you use them. With this arc lighter, if someone happens to light a bathroom candle for some reason and forgets to put this lighter back in the living room, it’s no big deal as long as it’s turned off. I also like that it’s rechargeable because I am cheap and environmentally conscious enough to feel bad about throwing away a couple bics every year. I know some are refillable but I’m not interested in getting butane all over the place.The only concern I have is for it’s longevity since there are some plastic pieces near the arc that hopefully won’t get damaged with repeated exposure to fire. Oh, and if you’re curious whether the arc hurts when you touch it, the answer is yes it does. It won’t take down a bear but it will make a grown man wonder why he stupidly decided to touch it.

As of right now (had a few months), it works well for its intended purpose. It holds a charge well—I haven’t needed to charge it except when I first got it and it lights candles well. No complaints as of yet and the color is nice as well.

It doesn't hold s charge very long. I use it to light candles around my house. Fully charged, use it only one night to light them. And by the next evening it is dead. Is that normal?

I use on candles, lighting my grill and gas fire place. This thing is super cool! Best price I found too! Plus it looks nice so I can leave on mantle and it doesn't look cheap like an old school disposable type.
