Love this mat!
I purchased this mat as I have recently moved my workout space to a different part of my house. My new location has hard wood floors, and I wanted something that needed to serve two purposes. First, protect my flooring. Second, add a little cushion to protect my knees and butt. In my old space I had a 6" x 6" carpet that I used. This wasn't going to work on the wood flooring as it slipped and moved. Even with a non slip pad under the carpet it still tended to shift due to the nature of the workouts I do (T25, P90, etc...). I did a fair amount of research before selecting this mat. I looked at several mats that were all about the same size. This was one of the priciest mats in this size range but after receiving it and using it, well worth the money. I honestly have no complaints about this mat. It is about a half inch thick, providing a fair amount of cushion. I have experienced only a slight amount of movement from this mat. Nothing I have noticed while working out, but over the course of two, maybe three workouts I can see that it has shifted a bit. This has not been a problem for me at all. Traction on this mat is really good. I have not noticed any sort of marking or scuffing of my floors from this mat. It seems to be very well made, and will hold up for a good long time. It is also very light weight if you need to roll it up and move it for any reason. It will fit nicely under a bed or stands perfectly in the corner. All in all I highly recommend this mat to anyone who is looking for a workout mat, to protect your flooring or just wants a little bit of cushion between you and the floor. Two quick notes:I placed this mat on carpet and did experience some movement during my workout. Nothing terrible, but definitely noticeable. This mat can lose some of its traction when wet. I only notice this when I have hands or knees on the mat. Nothing terrible, but noticeable.

Don't be tempted by yoga mats for p90x etc
I spent a lot of time looking for other workout mats on Amazon, and initially purchased an extremely-highly-rated thick mat (approx 72x26 in) that had people saying it was tough and useful for high intensity workouts like p90x... let me dispel those hundreds of positive reviews, the standard $30 products are NOT appropriate for high-intensity workouts, unless you don't mind constantly worrying about (1) falling off your pad, (2) tripping on the pad when you're jumping around it (3) losing your balance with the squishy non-firm foundation (4) pushing the pad out of the way every time you switch to something more aerobic. Plus, after my first session of p90x3 on the normal thick pad, cracks already started forming from my shoes and body weight stretching the surface (I place the pad on a wood floor).I upgraded to this mat, and although the cost is high, the function is just about perfect.* It provides just enough space for me (almost 6') to do all of the agility and yoga routines without worrying about edges... in retrospect i would never have bought anything smaller. The other 6x4 ft mat should work for almost everything in p90x... but would still be too small for some of the agility actions.* The cushion is still minimal (my knees are not as comfortable as on the plush pads), but better than my hard floor while still providing the crucial balance for p90x* The comfort level is very high with carpet underneath (I have a small carpet that I cannot use underneath due to sliding on my wood floor... a sticky pad under the carpet might fix that)* The material feels like it will last forever, and yet it is lightweight enough to easily roll up after every use into a cornerMy only significant complaint is:* The surface, although nicely textured, does become moderately slippery with sweat drips. Both my hands and shoes (without an aggressive grip) lose considerable traction, but it doesn't feel particularly dangerous. I expect this may decrease with more wear.On top of all that, Square36 seems to be a small family business with superb customer support and interaction!

Awesome workout mat!! Recommended
I would highly recommend this product. I have been using it for around 4 months now, average 4-5 days a week. Still just as good as day one. As others have mentioned it is on the pricier side but it shows in the quality. You can feel the quality and what your money went to when you touch it. I use it mostly for Insanity workouts. The shoes I wear on it have never been worn outside. I would be hesitant to use outdoor shoes on it, worried they might have a rock or something that I wouldn't want tearing it up. I work out on a hardwood floor and have had no issues at all with it moving around on the floor, even during short floor sprints. No issues with damage to the hardwood either. The size is good too. Only on longer floor sprints do I have to leave the mat.I can definitely rave about the mat because it really is that good. There are some cons as there are with everything. None of which i would consider worthy of docking a star though. It will get slippery when wet. If you sweat make sure you have a towel handy to wipe it off. I notice this most often during push ups and low plank. If you're adamant about finding a smell you can. But you seriously have to put your face next to the floor to notice it. It is a little difficult to roll up by yourself, which I do after every use.Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase. Spending the extra money was worth it. Doing Insanity workouts on hardwood floors can take a toll on the knees. While this mat isn't thick enough to completely resolve that issue that's not what it's designed to do. However it does minimize the impact on my knees enough that I have noticed it, which I didn't expect and was a welcome surprise. If you can afford a pricier mat it's well worth it in my opinion.
