Worth it!
Why are spreaders so expensive? $200 seems like a lot of money for a small bucket with a spinning crank on the bottom. It's not just this one either. The bag spreaders are a lot for what they are in my opinion. That being said, I had to learn the lesson "you get what you pay for" for the 20th time in my life. I started out with the cheapest of the cheap bag spreaders. I really only use it for hunting food plots and spreading corn so I didn't want to spend more money than needed. That lasted a season before the strap broke. Made my own strap and kept it for another season where it just stopped working. Trash. Sucked it up and bought a good bag seeder. $60... Much better than the cheap unit. The handle turn was smooth and the output adjustment would stay put and was easy to operate. The major issue was filling it. It's hard to fill without spilling a lot of seed on the ground because its floppy. So I cut out the bottom of an appropriate sized plastic flower pot and put it in the bag for some stability while filling. It worked ok for the most part but the spreader didn't hold much and was still inconvenient.Well, that brought me to here, a ridiculously expensive hand held bucket spreader! As much as I hate to admit it, it's worth the money. It is a quality product that solves all of my issues from my previous experiences. I can set it on the ground, or on a table, or wear it while filling it with no spillage. You can really fine tune the output adjustment if you are into that sort of thing. It's smooth and does a great job with seed and corn. No issues or concerns whatsoever. I can also see how this would be much more pleasant than a push spreader on uneven, root stricken ground. It is also comfortable. I wore it for an entire day and had no issues. The capacity is roughly 25lbs of corn if that helps. Do yourself a favor and skip the life lesson. Get the good stuff up front and save money!

Try to buy a part for it.
I bought this spreader 4 years ago and I really like it. However, some how I lost the hand crank handle that is removable for storage or transport. I went to their website and could not find how I could order a replacement handle or other replacement parts. I had to manufacture my own. Disappointed

Good, dependable spreader
We'd gone through a couple of other "top quality" spreaders before I happened on this one. I called the company, and some marketing hot shot called back and sold me on the value for the money, so I bought it--best spreader ever. Over the last four years, we've put out about 160 pounds of granular slow-release fertilizer (four 40-pound bags--we have big yard) six times a year--so about two tons of pellets. This summer, a couple of the control parts failed; replacement assembly would be less than $30, but the company said they'd send it out no charge under their 5-year warranty. Incredible! Really want to thank whomever the marketing guy was who called me, on a Saturday, to talk me into this. It's been a great product.

Does not work with oats.
Works fine except for light seeds like oats. They bridge up and do not fall as I had hoped. Other heavier seeds and fertilizer work fine.

Great performance, and easy on my back.
The best feature about this spreader is that it is made in America. The configuration of the straps makes it easy on my back. I use it on a commercial farm for granular herbicide primarily, so I appreciate the flexible lid that prevents any irritating dust from the hopper.

Not practical for more than an acre
Works OK. It is only practical for an acre or less. Any larger than that is a real chore. This thing only slings grass seed about 5 feet either side of you, and that's if you're cranking it really hard. The 20th century Cyclone brand seeders worked waaaaayyy better. Also because of the many variables involved, getting consistent coverage is darn near impossible. I guess I'm going on to search for plan B.
