Very poorly edited
The information content in the book is dense and a valuable resource aggregating diverse physiological literature on hyper/hypo-capnia and breathing a a whole. It is very poorly edited though, and organization is poor. There are many repetitive sections citing the same study in multiple locations. Often the same quotation appears in multiple subsections. There is also no overarching narrative or organizational device which leads to a sense of meandering and rehashing the subject matter.

Excellent guide to self-help based on understanding physiology of human breathing
This book is a very concise helper, based on profound understanding of human physiology. Artour Rakhimov has authored quite a few excellent books about establishing and maintaining physiological equilibrium through normalization of breathing patterns. His writings are based strictly on modern physiology and related teachings of prof. Buteyko. Spanning from small guidebooks to big 300-sides profound work on breathing physiology, a bible for every serious Buteyko practitioner. One of the strongest aspects about his books is the fact that (if practised correctly and thoroughly) they can change breathing not only while exercising, but 24/7. Meaning that it is actually your breathing center (medulla oblongata) that gets re-programmed to improve your health with every breath - both conscious AND unconscious. Which is very unique for Buteyko way of breathing retraining. I recommend Artour Rakhimov books to all my students. So if you want to establish and maintain better health - start with this easy but serious guide. Highly recommended, really!

Clear and well done
I have read several of Artour Rakhimov's books and have benefited greatly. Learning to retrain one's breathing takes time and perseverance but represents one the very best investments I have ever made. I began using his Amazing DIY Breathing Device and over a period of months increased my CP (no-stress breath holding time reflecting body oxygenation) to 25-30 seconds. I then switched to his "Steps for Adults" exercise described in Advanced Buteyko Breathing Exercises and am now closing in on 40 seconds. The improvement in my health has been phenomenal. So why am I reading an introductory book? Because you can never know the basics too well! And I am glad I did go back and read Breathing Slower and Less. While no essentials have changed it is clear that Rakhimov's understanding and ability to communicate has advanced. His earlier books were good, this one is great.

Great information on the technique
This is based on the the first few chapters. The steps are clearly articulated. I was looking into the book more from the sleep apnea perspective. Great information!

Very important information.
This book gives detailed information, backed by scientific evidence, on why breathing less is important for good health. Everything is clearly explained and the information is very complete, but the reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I was expecting to read how to actually do some Buteyko exercises to help me improve my CP. You won't find that information here, but it's a great introduction to the Buteyko method.

Vitality.
Excellent book, easy to grasp, provides several essential studies/trials to prove the titles truth. Looking forward to reading the rest of your books. Something else that will take everyone else's health to the next level is something called Vitamin K2 and also Mucus-less diet healing system by Arnold Ehret. Highly recommended. Thank you for this vital information Artour. I discovered Buteyko breathing through NornalBreathing.Com and I've shared it with several others including a friend who has asthma.

Doesn't teach the method
The book presents facts through the scientific studies that make its case strong. But there is no proper guidance on how to do the breathing method.I think the author's second book explains it though I haven't checked it out yet.

SAVE YOUR MONEY - do NOT buy this book
This was a waste of both TIME and MONEY. The book does not explain or outline the breathing practice AT ALL. It's a long commercial telling you how great it is to breathe like that, but never tells you HOW to do it!! It is very frustrating. SAVE YOUR MONEY and move on to the next thing. I bought this on a whim and was extremely disappointed. It's written by a Soviet trained doctor - and I hate to say it but I even found myself questioning the "research" quoted over and over again in the commercial. I kept reading it thinking - when will they tell me what the breathing practice is. The answer NEVER.

This may not work for everyone but for some it can be life changing.
My wife had been suffering from asthma for 15 years and the doctors could do nothing but prescribe more gut fauns killing anti biotics and steroids. We were at a point where you finally give up on the white coats and decide to do something on your own for what ails you. There are several suggestions in this book that helped her considerably, for that alone I would recommend buying it if you suffer from asthma. That said I need to say that when she finally went to see a holistic practitioner he actually cured her asthma completely. You read that right. What he discovered was that she didn't have asthma in the common sense. He treated her for candida in her lungs. Years ago, about the time her asthma kicked in she suffered serious acid reflux. During this time some of the gut bacteria got into her lungs causing asthma typesymptoms that the white coats couldn't possibly test for with the methods they have available. If you suffer from asthma get the book and find a holistic practitioner. This book and The Chronic Cough Enigma: How to recognize, diagnose and treat neurogenic and reflux related cough were both used by my wife to help her over come the endless coughing before she got real help. Both are excellent books and worth having in your library. The Chronic Cough Enigma: How to recognize, diagnose and treat neurogenic and reflux related cough

Great Solid Read
Solid book explaining his rationalization on the importance of breathing. Only reason for not receiving a 5 star rating is due to the absence of practical breathing exercises in this book

Congratulations and thank you Dr. Rakimov
This is an excellent book packed with interesting and useful information on the Buteyko Method. It will be of interest not only to the general public but also to Buteyko practitioners/educators. A lot of very interesting topics are covered and clear, concise explanations are provided. I would highly recommend this book to people who want to normalise their breathing because they have a modern disease associated with over-breathing e.g. asthma, heart disease or diabetes. For those who may wish to explore particular topics in more detail, a wealth of references is provided. The book also contains many relevant illustrations which support and reinforce material in the main text. I particularly liked the chapters on ‘Breathing and oxygenation’ and ‘Why do we breathe too heavily?’ Congratulations and thank you Dr. Rakimov for providing this very valuable book which clearly communicates sound information on an extremely important health discovery which has enormous potential to improve health and wellbeing through breathing slower and less.
