Asolo Men's TPS 520 GV Evo Boot in Chestnut for Backpacking, Hiking, & Trekking

Paid alot of money for these boots and after only 6 months the sole has come apart. I'm a lineman and have always worn this brand boot, but bought at REI. First time buying them on Amazon. I know with REI I could return. Disappointed....

This is about my 8th pair of the asolo 520s. I wear these boots all day ..everyday in the construction industry. They are form fitting, the waterproof goretex is excellent, and the soles are slolid. You could stand on jagged pointy rocks and never know. I spend most of my days on my feet and I never think twice about this purchase to protect my posture and my feet. The photos depict a brand new pair replacing my previous pair worn everyday for 1.5 years.

I was deciding between these and the Scarpa Zanskar and went with the Scarpas given these are basically guaranteed to delaminate within 4-5 years and I will never come close to wearing them out prior [took me 12 years to wear out my last pair of hiking boots]. Otherwise, these shoes are like a dream. They are super comfortable and feel fantastic [wore them around the house for an hour or so and I almost forgot I had them on - aside from the clomping around....]. If someone hikes enough that they will wear them out in a couple years, or is not so concerned about dropping $300 on boots that will only last 4-5 years, I don't think you can find a better pair. Aside from the longevity issue, they definitely lived up to the hype.

After 3 years of wearing these boots everyday and walking/hiking many miles the sole delaminated last week starting in the middle of the boot. The boots were a great fit and were comfortable but after shelling out close to 300 i thought they would last more than 3 years. After researching this on the web, i found that I am not the only one who has experienced this with Asolo boots. Some were able to contact Asolo and claim the delamination was a manufacturing defect and get them fixed for free by the company. Sadly, i tried this but they rejected my boot based on the fact that the soles of my boots appeared worn in the photos i sent them. After this experience, i will make sure the next boot i purchased will have a stiched sole and will not be laminated like many Asolo boots including the 520 are. If Asolo had stiched soles they would have been perfect for i thought they fit my fit well and were i admit very comfortable. Hopefully, Asolo will listen to their custumers and change the sole design to make a more durable product.

I have worn Asolo boots for so long that I can't remember the last brand of outdoor boot I wore before finding Asolos.My first Asolo boots were a pair of Snowpine backcountry/telemark boots.After the discomfort of my previous ski boots, I was so amazed at their immediate comfort that I changed over to Asolo for my hiking boots also.I can put a pair of Asolos on right out of the box and take off on a multi day trip never having to worry about breaking them in.They are the most comfortable boot I have ever worn and they fit my feet perfectly.What more could I ask for?

I haven't purchased many boots over the years. I wore a single pair of Vasque Sundowners for years when they were made in Italy and when it became time to update, the replacement Sundowners, were a mere shell of their former selves. Of course, manufacture of these boots were moved to China. I wore these boots for only a few seasons until I couldn't stand them any longer. I switched to Merrell Mattertals and wore that pair for 5-6 years and when it came time to replace them (a much shorter time than my original Sundowners lasted), the new Mattertals were obviously inferior, maybe manufacture had been switched to China or a to worse manufacturer in China to save on cost. I found a lot of good things said about this Asolo boot on the internet and none of that praise was wrong.

My third pair of these in ten years or so. Second pair is going strong but don't look nice enough for some occasions. I use them hard year round, never a blister yet, never a sore foot.Edit: these are nowhere near the quality they used to be. the boots being reviewed have now become my primary boots now that the old ones finally wore out. Something changed in production. These boots don't feel nearly as good on my feet, and don't have the internal support the older ones had, they don't keep my feet in place like the old ones did even though they feel smaller. I've been wearing them since new with some discomfort, but I thought it was due to being part time boots; I assumed they never completely broke in. Now I've been wearing them daily for several months and they still don't feel right. I put some hard miles on them last week, and couldn't wait to get them off. In fact, most days I'm glad to get them off my aching feet.Usually, I would be very upset about the next part, but in this case I'm afraid I'm a little glad. With the last two pairs of these boots I've owned, the boots wore out evenly top to bottom. the upper leather was cracking about the same time the soles ran out of tread. This pair however, has the soles falling off way before the tread is worn out. In fact, the tread is in great condition because the boots haven't been worn much. Also, the fabric inside the boots is wearing out where the tongue tucks inside. These boots are the worst money I've spent in a very long time, and it's a shame because I've loved the other pairs I have had. I thought I would wear this style Asolo boot until they quit making them, but I guess it's time to start looking again for a good pair of boots.

Very pleased with these boots. Well made and thought out features. Have held up under tougher daily use than most boots do. Comfortable right out of the box but also a strong boot. Got lucky with the fit... ordered a size larger than normal due to availability and couldn’t be happier.

I absolutely love the quality and fit of these boots. I have tried two other brands, but nothing compares.
