Sizing is off, but the customer service is worse
This harness is attractive and well made, but the sizing is off. First I ordered the large, based on the sizing chart, but it was huge. (I have a 55 lb, 9 mo old GSD mix.) Then I ordered the medium and it was roomy everywhere except the belly strap, which was too tight and chafing my dog. I contacted the seller to see if I could get a larger belly strap. At her request, I spent time sending her pics and my dog's measurements, only to be told that it wasn't possible to swap the belly strap.Although the sizing issue is frustrating, the main reason for the 2-star review was the seller's attitude. She told me I ordered the wrong size and I should have gotten the large. I explained that I had and it was way too big, so I got the medium which fit well except the belly strap. She insisted that sizing is correct, and when people complain that the belly strap is too small it's their problem--either they bought the wrong size or they're using the harness wrong. She said it can't be used with just the front attachment (even though the Amazon listing clearly says it can be used from just the front, which prevents pulling, and was the whole reason I bought it). She said it's Amazon's fault that the listing is wrong. All in all, I was really unimpressed with this seller.

Buyer beware.
This seems like a very well-made product. Both of my dogs are right in between sizes medium and large. I ordered the large. And it was a bit too large in the chest. When I tried to return it. I read there's a 50% restocking fee? Unfortunately I had already ordered two medium harnesses. Amazon would not let me cancel my order for some reason? When I checked return item. It just came up as a white screen. And would not let me confirm the return. I have contacted the seller directly several times. To try to cancel the two mediums that I ordered. No response. I hope that these fit. And are not defective. As it seems like a good harness. A 50% restocking fee seems a bit much. Amazon Prime is much better with returns. I will update this review. If the seller does something to make this right. Otherwise I have learned a valuable but expensive lesson. NEVER order anything that's not prime eligible!

By FAR the best harnesses (we now have two) in our collection
This is the second Freedom Harness I've bought for my dog... the first one is almost as good as new, after 2 years, but badly needs washing! This is the MOST FANTASTIC harness design. I have a very strong 50-lb pit bull-boxer mix who is sweet, but a real handful. I bought several other types of harnesses, some pretty good, but this is THE ONE that helped me manage my little girl and teach her to walk like a semi-civilized canine. It does not seem to cause any discomfort, but the martingale at the top does seem to discourage pulling. When I first got it I was still using the front (chest) attachment for the leash, which really helped discourage pulling, and gradually we were able to move to using the top ring. The soft, thick velvet (top quality) lining of the lower chest strap is very gentle on her skin, too, important because she has quite a thin coat there and is very vulnerable to chafing. For those of you new to this great, wonderfully designed and effective harness, be aware that as with many harnesses, you'll need to adjust the straps, especially the "belly strap" a time or two at first, as the fabric straps seem to relax a little, but adjustment is really fast and easy, and after the first weeks I have never had to readjust. This is a long-lasting, quality product that I would recommend to anyone who loves their dog and wants the best for them, especially dogs that are a bit difficult to walk, that pull etc.

Helps with pulling but be careful if you have a chewer
This harness really helps with pulling. I have a 5 month old Standard Poodle who is full of energy and was choking himself with just a collar. I started off with a Small harness which is 5/8" width. He did manage to almost chew through the chest strap when I had him on leash at a neighbor's house. Normally I take the harness off when it is not being used but I had to keep him on leash because the neighbor has an elderly dog that did not want to play. The warranty repair takes several weeks and since he had grown I decided to just purchase the Medium with 1" wide straps. I had it shipped overnight so I would have it for his next puppy class. WIth his thick poodle puppy coat, I actually find the wider harness easier to put on. The narrow straps disappeared into his coat making it harder to fasten.

Finally!!
I have tried many harnesses over the years and it was almost comical that every "no pull" did absolutely nothing to stop my dogs from pulling - that is, until now! I am still amazed at not being pulled around when my dogs wear these. I make sure to stop all forward movement when they start pulling and they got the memo very quickly. I like the front clip option for redirecting as one of my blocky headed girls is very enthusiastic about bee-lining to her favorite things (most things are her favorite things). And the velvet lining on the strap under the belly is so nice for my shorthaired, sensitive skined dogs.

Best Harness
My dog is a puller. She’s managed to slip out of every type of harness I’ve ever bought for her, EXCEPT for this one. It is adjustable, which is great for a growing pup. I love the martingale loop on the back. My dog still pulls because she’s stubborn, but the martingale helps her pull a little less. It also helps the harness stay secure. I had a similar harness, without the martingale, that my dog slipped out of when she was a puppy. We were still in the training phase, so once she slipped out she took off. Recall hadn’t been taught yet, so that was a terrifying situation. Luckily she came back to me after what felt like forever, but was probably more like 5 minutes. Immediately after that event, I got on Amazon and bought this harness. The martingale tightens whenever there’s any kind of tugging, so no matter what directions a dog pulls, this harness will always be secure.
