Not for a novice!
This is possibly the right time for me to write a review. I have had the book a few days and spent a few hours reading it. First...this is not a "field guide". I can not see myself taking this with me when working in the field. Second...I find it to much like a textbook. More info than necessary. This book is not for a novice. I believe it is better for an somewhat advanced photographer like myself. I am not a Pro by any means but I have enough experience to know what this book is about. I like how the bells and whistles of the camera are laid out. Good for a beginner but that is where it ends. I have found myself thumbing through the pages looking at different areas that interested me. There are some things I know and some I don't. I expect to use it as a guide but not a field one. Summing things up...a novice should find a less complicated book where they can get a few hints and then go out and take some photos. I find the time I have spent in the field has given me a keen eye for a good photograph. A novice should spend more time in the field than in this book.A little side note...Ken Rockwell.com is a great resource for novice and advanced photographer alike.

This is an excellent book about the Nikon D3300
This is an excellent book about the Nikon D3300. Evidently this author writes a lot of books about cameras and photography but this book is a real good effort. I had ordered a Nikon D3000 when I ordered this. I have a very long background in film photography, from 1/2 frame 35 to 8X10 view cameras and have done almost every type of photography. Having been trained in film photography and now doing just digital photography, there are a lot of technical things I have to learn. I am sure the camera would have a good online instruction book but I wanted to be able to study and learn all about more serious digital photography, such as RAW images, etc. I think this book is very good. Anyone who has one of these cameras and wants to do all they can with it, as opposed to just doing snapshot photography, should buy this book.

Thorough and handy
Very thorough. Worth a few read throughs and to keep handy for reference.(wish it came with a grey card like some of the books covering other models)

Useful and practical guide.
D3300 owners need this field guide. The author has made sure the guide is "user friendly" and understandable; however, the author credits readers with being intelligent and motivated enough to put the text to use for making creative, satisfying photos. The beauty of such a manual is that it can be read and reread while finding new insights and gaining awareness with each reading.

the right book
I have read just ten pages and already I understand my D3300 better. Nice book great pictures and guides. Throw away the paper manual that came with your camera and use this one. Don't worry about size. Every dealer should sell this book with the camera. You will not be sorry you bought this book. Remember your camera is a tool and like all other tools or art form you need to know how to use it with your eyes closed.glendurnich.

Great Book. Amazon Service. Life gets no Better. :)
This was book number 2 that I ordered to get the most from my new purchase. While it takes a different approach from my other books as far as how it's written, it, too, is an excellent way to get the best pics from your D3300. As far as I'm concerned, this book is a must have and is sitting by my elbow right this second. Well done, J. Dennis Thomas. :)

I am not finished with this guide, but so far, so good! It truly does take you through and is making me able to use this camera. I turned the camera on the first time and almost cried because it actually intimidated me....... I am happy to say this guide really does help! and I do recommend it to anyone buying this camera for the first time! Thank you!

Not suitable for beginners.
Probably. If aimed at a novice, it's too advanced; if aimed at an advanced user then I am not entitled to comment.
