I have used this type of wine opener for years.... my last one lasted 10 this item looks no less or more robust so let's hope it serves just as well

Initially I was impressed by this product but after hardly any usage since being purchased in Aug 2020 (it is still in the original box) the gears now slip and as such it no longer works - complete waste of money now.

I've gone through more than my fair share of openers as a sommelier. I had both metal and plastic versions of the original rabbit opener. The metal one broke were the corkscrew attaches, and one of the side handles snapped off of the plastic one. Granted, they both saw many years of heavy professional use before breaking.This was my replacement. It's heavy metal, and feels very strong and sturdy. The arms and mechanics are thicker and less delicate feeling, which gives me the impression that this one might outlast its predecessors. After a good bit of use, I can say with confidence that it is superior in function and doesn't tend to pinch ones hand when using, and the accompanying foil cutter is delightfully effective as well. I've yet to have the opportunity to use a replacement corkscrew, as the last two also came with one but broke before it needed to be replaced.
