Worked wonders on oxidized Toyota red paint
Clearly this product is meant more for the person who spends much of his or her time with a car or cars. You'd no doubt have an electric buffer handy along with various grades of wax to help make your car gleam. On the other hand, I have none of that, but what I do have is a 1994 Tercel, red, which has been gradually oxidizing since new and has never had a single coat of wax applied (but miraculously has no rust whatsoever). I did try washing it once to see if that would help make the paint look better. It didn't. So I went out today, washed off the hood and a fender, took a piece of Bounty and applied this polishing compound by hand. I'm rather stunned by the results since I could see my reflection in the bright shiny red paint. I took a picture a little way into the job and you can plainly see which area has been polished and the comparison to the area which has not been. I'm inspired to borrow a buffer and finish the rest of the car. At this point it looks like I replaced a fender and the hood, so I have to keep going. And oh yes, this also did a nice job minimizing the surface scratches in a few places on a 2004 gray Audi. Impressive, and I'll have to keep some around.

Not a miracle worker, but great for common scratches. 4-4.5
My husband has a 1999 Volvo that he loves. It had over 400k miles when the odometer stopped turning. The lights in the dash don’t work anymore and it definitely needs some cosmetic work. But he still loves it. And while he doesn’t drive it on a regular basis, he occasionally cranks it up and drives it around the neighborhood remembering the wonderful times that they had. So, it should be no surprise that the sun has damaged the paint. When I ordered this product (for a honest review), I thought that it would be a miracle worker. We expected this product to bring “Jessie” (that’s what I call her) back to her former glory. I think that was a bit ambitious. The Wax Shop’s Rebuild 2000 Medium Cut Compound didn’t restore Jessie to her former glory. Instead it fills in small scratches from the body of our newer cars, where the paint isn’t as damaged. The instructions suggest that you apply small amounts before removing with a buffer. We used a small pad and spot corrected small scratches (you know the kind you get from people while parked at the grocery store, maybe from shopping carts, or other annoying imperfections). And while this product really didn’t help Jessie (lol, there is way too much sun damage), it does the trick on newer model cars. We are a four car household. The colors of the car are blue, red, gray and beige and this rebuild compound works well on each of the colors. A small amount improves very superficial scratches. So for under $35, you get a pretty decent product that corrects minor imperfections. I’d suggest those who are in the car restoration business give this product a try.

This REALLY WORKS!
My old Prius originally was red, but it has never been kept in a garage and our weather is very rough -- 100+ degree summers and snowy winters. The paint lost all its shine and was covered with random discolorations. A friend thought he could help me restore shine to the paint and used something on it that left a milky look to the finish. I know he meant well, but it was a very result. Yesterday, I gave this Wax Shop 50957 Rebuild Medium Cut Polishing Compound a try and am incredibly happy. The car is red again. The paint shines. And many of the odd marks are off. It was easy to use, but I ran out of time and will need to use it again to get some discoloration off the lowest parts of the rear bumper. I LOVE IT!.
