I got this for my nephew who is collecting rocks and stones. It is a nice beginner book for kids. It is an easy read.

My kids are always asking what kind of rock this is. This book is short and easy to read, but in-depth enough to give them a grasp on the subject. It's also small enough they can take it with us on hikes. I got them each a rock collector journal that has space to paste a picture of the rock to go with it.

I bought this for my 10 year old grandson. He was excited when he saw what it was. He wanted to start reading it right away. Has a great deal of information and is a great resource.

Great book. My 7 yr old is very into rocks and has a collection. He likes to look at this book and find out the names to all the different rocks. I like the size. Easy to carry along.

My niece is a "Budding Geologist" at the age of 7 years old, and we were shown this book by a gentleman at a zoo that ran a panning for rocks set up. We ordered it for her instantly! She was so inspired by the book she wrote the author, Mr. Lynch, a letter telling him how much she enjoyed it... AND HE WROTE HER BACK!! How neat is that?! Highly recommend! Lovely book but unfortunately focus on American geology. Grandson still likes it.

This book is a great intro into general geology. Lots of pictures and info for big and little kids alike.

This is a fairly clear book but it is based on North America. The maps certainly and much of the information possibly (I've not yet read it through) could be irrelevant.
