I love this thing!
I absolutely love this product! I was apprehensive buying the Miraqueen curler because I had bad experiences with automatic curling/braiding devices when I was a kid, but I really shouldn't have worried! I have mid-length (a little longer than shoulder, but not to my shoulder blades), curly brunette hair. Normally my hair will curl after a shower with very little prompting, but the day after (or a few days after..don't judge), it's looking limp and curl-less. Today was such a day. Day old hair, a little dry shampoo, and just kinda frizzy and dumb. I plugged the curler in, set it to the highest heat and longest curl time, and while it was warming up I brushed my hair out, sectioned it in thirds, and by the time I was done, the curler beeped 3 times quickly to let me know it was ready. It took a few tries to get it right, but after I figured it out I was whizzing around my head faster than I thought I would. Beginning to end, I'd say it took about 15 minutes or so.Some things I learned:1: After you do a curl, the machine beeps at you. The first time I did it, I kept the trigger engaged and pulled the hair out, which resulted in it not actually being curled. It kinda straightened as it pulled out. Release the trigger first, and the curl comes out fine.2: Since my hair is naturally curly, it has a curl pattern that it wants to follow. Not really a big deal, but some of the curls just looked super weird. Like.. half straight, half flipped up on itself. When it did that, I just reversed the direction of the curl (there's a button for left curls or right curls), and redid that section. Most of the time that took care of it, one time I just had to hold it on the curl a little longer to force more heat in.3: A few times it got jammed, but it really wasn't a problem. It has a sensor that shuts the rotation off if your hair gets stuck, and it's super easy to pull it back out. It happened if my hair was tangled, it was too much hair, or if I didn't section very well and it was trying to pull extra hair in from neighboring sections of hair. I just let go of the trigger, pulled the hair out (again, didn't hurt or get stuck), and finger-combed the hair to make it smooth before putting it back in.4: The machine beeps at you when your hair is ready to come out. If I needed a tighter curl in some places, I just let it beep a few more times to let the heat stay in longer, and the curl came out more defined and tight.5 (ish): I sectioned my hair in thirds.. First just above my ears and put the rest in a claw clip on top of my head. I then went around doing about 1 inch sections switching between left and right curls to make it not look too perfect. Once that was done, I took the claw out, sectioned the remainder in half, and repeated. Same with the top section. Once everything was curled (about 15 minutes), it looked very Shirley Temple/poodle/90's prom, which I totally expected. I grabbed a mirror and went through making sure I got everything and nothing was flat/not curled right/dumb looking. After I was sure everything was right, I let it all just sit and cool for about 10 minutes. I think this part is important.. You need to let the hair cool down completely before you touch it. The hair is attempting to set the curl, which happens as it cools. If you mess with it early, it all falls apart. Once it's completely cool, I flipped my head upside-down and fluffed the roots. Kind of... stick my fingers in my hair near my scalp and wiggled aggressively. When I flipped my head back up it was a lot more fluffy, and a lot less perfect, which is what you want. Speaking from the Naturally Curly Haired experience, nobody's hair is that curly and perfect all the time. You kinda have to mess it up and break the curls apart or it looks super weird. So yeah! That's my advice. Brush, section, alternate curl direction, let it cool fully, then Flip and Fluff. Easy, fun, and heckin cute!!

Quick, pretty curls in minutes!
The Miraqueen Curling Wand is awesome! I tried it out as soon as I received it to see if it was a good idea to purchase it - I am so happy I did. I have 2 young children, and I do not get much time to myself. This Wand curls quickly and easily! The curler came in a box with a pipette (to add for the steam) and instructions. I read through the instructions, but didn't get all the information I needed. I looked up the Miraqueen Curling Wand online and found a video someone posted, and it was extremely helpful. I was able to set up the wand to the lowest settings by toggling through the settings. The lowest temperature that showed on my curler was 370F, then 410F, then 450F. The instructions stated 375F, 420F, and 450F - see pictures of my curler. I also adjusted my time to 8 seconds, and set the curl to L. I didn't initially set the curl direction, and the curler did not work properly. After set-up, it beeped when heated. I sectioned my hair, and combed through it. I placed my hair in the V section of the curler, and held the button down. My hair was wrapped in the curler quickly. It did pull a little, but it didn't hurt. I also made sure I had the labeled side of the curler next to my head as required. After 3 beeps, there were 3 quick beeps telling me my hair was curled. I released the button and slowly pulled my hair from the curler.A couple times I didn't curl it correctly, and it got a little wrapped up in the curler. I was able to remove my hair without too much trouble. I believe there is a learning curve with this curling tool, and I will need more practice to be more efficient at using it.I loved the pretty curls that I achieved using the Miraqueen Curling Wand. They were feminine, not too tight, and make an ordinary pony tail look elegant. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The price on Amazon is ridiculous - I received mine at a discount. Not What I Expected | Didn't Work for Me
Purchased this with the hope that it would be easy to use, but that didn't turn out to be the case for me and I returned it same day it arrived. I will say that I do have thick wavy hair (bought it with the intention of smoothing out and defining my waves), but that might have made it harder to use. It grabbed my hair and sometimes wouldn't twist it up into the machine, when it did finish a curl they were towards the lower end and not up by the roots, and they weren't spiral curls. I gave up and decided my barrel wand was best. Honestly, this thing kind of scared me, I was afraid my hair was going to get stuck in there. Lol I'm sure if you have straight hair that's not too thick and you section it out in small/thin sections this might work great for you.

Good curler for a good price
Had seen others that were substantially pricer. This one works well and it's easy to use on my daughters long hair. My hair is shorter and I found it a bit tricky to use on myself but it didn't take long to get the hang of it. If you put too much hair in at one time, or it's not brushed out well, it will start to bind but you quickly unclamp it and it releases the hair without having it pulled out of your head. (It does sound scary, but not a big deal)I don't think the steam part works very well because I haven't had to refill it after using it multiple times. The curls are cute though so I haven't gotten worked up about it.Overall, good product. I used the Babybliss one and liked that one better, but wasn't willing to pay an extra $100 for it.
