Battery did not last

There are things I loved about it, and things I hated, that's why I'm giving it a 3 star rating.The size is great- it's easy to handle and the imagery is really good. I've had it on the bottom in 40 feet of water, totally surrounded by Walleye and they were clear as can be. My complaints though: it's extremely difficult to view in any type of sunlight, and it's a real pain to try to wind or unwind the cable. Couldn't they have put some sort of reel on the thing? It literally takes like 3 or 4 minutes to bring up from the bottom and re-wrap the cable. Also, when it's on the bottom, you have no way of knowing which way it's pointing and no way to turn it, like you can with other, stiffer-cabled models.

This is a handy and very portable device that helps you better understand what is happening in the water. It is very simple to use....just turn on the monitor and start watching "the show". The camera takes good quality images and has a very wide field of view. Winding and unwinding the cable is easy to do due to its small diameter. Because of its size, the screen is not very big and under bright sun light, it is difficult to see any screen image so you need some kind of shade producer. If there is one capability that I would like to have added, it is the ability to send the image to a video recording device. Depending on water clarity, you will be able to see what a "fishfinder" is actually marking.

Originally I rated this as a 1 star but have revised it. The AV Micro did not work for me up in Alberta, Canada. Likely due to a little too cold for the camera housing and the cord. It is unfortunate because I love the picture quality, size of the unit, and great features (i.e. motion sense). However, I have worked out a deal with Outdoor Insights Inc to exchange for another camera. That kind of customer service makes a difference and might as well for others thinking of buying products from them.
