The Minds of Billy Milligan

I bought this book after I heard M.Night.Shyamalan talking about the inspiration for his movie "Split".Very nice story! Can't believe it really happened. Book gives an insight on how crazy a mental illness can be. Those only suffer from it knows the horror. It kinda inexplicable, how the mind could shatter into 23 distinct personalities and some of 'em not even aware of each other.Can't wait for this to be made into a movie! Maybe a perfectionist filmmaker David Fincher could do it :)

Hey im Mr Rajat Banerjee's daughter and my dad had bought this awesome book for me as ive grown an interest in psychology and related cases.This book jst blew me away coz ive never read about the phenomenon of split personalities in such vivid context.it was literally different 24 people and not "personalities" inside Billy and the author Daniel keyes had done deep research before writing this book that we find our selves deeply involved and sympathizing for this young man.Is there an option of 10 stars for this particular book?.......it is needed coz this is a masterpiece jst fascinating.

It's one of those books that draw you in and keep you engaged till the very last word. This was one of the unusual books that I've come across and I'm glad that I picked it up. The language of the book is a little clinical, but since it's not a story rather a biography and that too involving a significant case of multiple personality it is to be expected. Overall, the book is fascinating and the life of Billy Milligan is very intriguing and a must read.

And indeed we are nowhere closer to understand who we truly are...A gripping account that leaves the reader staggered.

Psychological dissection of a mind,well,to be more precise, dissection of many minds, an awesome real story worth reading. After reading you are sure to feel a connection with Billy, a great deep connection.

You must initially have the patience to sit through the chapters and get to know the characters.... but once that sets in.... the book and the case keeps you on the edge

Like others, I was intrigued after watching the Apple TV series, The Crowded Room. I felt the book was an easy read and very interesting and filled in all the details the series left you wondering about. Unlike other reviewers, my book held up great. The spine held together perfectly and after reading in just a few days, it still looks almost new. Highly recommend.

A look at the extreme effects of child sexual abuse and the fragmenting of the mind into alter ego's. One a five year old lesbian and another a karate, weapons, and explosive expert who writes and speaks fluent Serbian...It is a Jason Bourne type who does not know the others exist... finally researchers found they could call the personalities out by name, it reminds me of the question :What is your name" and the answer was "Legion, for we are many"... Spooky in analysis..

I read this book after watching the series “The Crowded Room” on AppleTV, which took the basis of its storyline from this book.It highlights the struggle of multiple personalities and the response of society towards persons with this affliction. The book is extremely well written and is sympathetic towards both sides whilst highlighting severe injustices.If you want a thought provoking read that opens your mind to a controversial subject, then this book is just what you need! Enjoy!!
