you ought to know
using clamps to suspend canvas vertically between two wrought iron rods. it does the job securely . note, the pivoting tips of each clamp comes off way to easily, so setting the clamp and adjustments need to be done with this in mind or you will searching for those pieces. like I did.

working for kid forts
My kids are using these to build forts and they are working well. They require strength to open and are too hard to use for my youngest, but the tweens can use them. There are some flat parts on the clamps that keep coming off, but we can still use the clamps.

Heavy duty? Yes, all but the pads - beware
These seem sturdy and heavy duty as described but the pads on the clamp tips are held on by a thin piece of plastic that doesn't even completely encircle the pivot point making it a weak spot and subject to breaking with minimal force. Bye bye pad. Be sure the pads have not rotated around where you'll bump it trying to clamp whatever it is you're trying to clamp (I got them to hold weather covers on grill and patio fire table).

Watch the Tips!
Great for the project I was working on which was pretty light weight.... but those darn little tips pop off so easily!!! If they were orange at least then when they'd pop off I would notice...but alas! I would order again... but it would be nice if they came with a few extra tips! FYI I'm not sure how helpful they would be if I was doing something where I needed a heavy-duty/strong hold.

Not very strudy
These claps don't seem very study to me and they did not work at all for my purposes. I bought some cheap 4.5" from Harbor Freight and jaw span is roughly 2.5". I just needed them to clamp approx. 2.10" of wood together; they worked fine for this light duty task; I just needed a lot more. So I jumped on Amazon to see if I could order them in bulk.However this particular brand of 4.5" seem to only have a jaw span of about 1 & 7/8th. I BARELY got them to open wide enough to clamp onto a 2x4. (Which is technically just 1.5". They will be returned.
