PrimeEffects Sweet Dreams Sleep Mask with Soft Ear Plugs

My wife bought this for me because she crochet's at night and has a light that she uses that is pretty bright. This product is outstanding. It has a small flap underneath the bottom of the mask that blocks out all the light. The other day after an all night work session, I was laying down for a nap around 4PM. That, unfortunately, is when the sun is shining directly into the bedroom and onto the bed. I put the sleep mask on and it was instantaneously dark. Truly amazing. The other thing I like about it is the weight, it is very lightweight so I can fold it and put it in my laptop bag for travel. Also, and this is embarrassing, but I have a fairly large head (not a freak or anything, just larger than normal :) ) and the elastic fits perfectly. To give you an idea, if you are thinking of hat sizes, I am an XL or 7.5 fitted or 23.5 inches and I have no problem with it at all. As far as the feel goes, it is perfectly soft for me. If you are looking for something that is fluffy, this isn't it. However, I specifically didn't want something that was bulky and gapped to let light in. This is designed perfectly so you get a comfortable fit and it doesn't feel like you are wearing something cumbersome. So the bottom line is that I definitely recommend it.As a side note, I purchased it from Prime Effects and they are an amazing vendor. I have Amazon Prime and my wife and I literally do almost all our shopping through Amazon. This company is definitely a step ahead in customer service. I received an email making sure I had received the order and a follow on after the fact to make sure I was satisfied. The thing that impressed me was that the messages were personalized so it didn't seem to be autogenerated which would be amazing nowadays. I received several emails from Philip who was very cordial and professional which was a really nice touch. After unpacking the mask from its plastic bag it had a slight chemical smell to it since it was trapped inside the cellophane bag. When you get it I would recommend unpacking it and letting it air out before usage to get rid of the smell. The mask sits well, the outside is shiny (I call it "faux silk"), although I could do without the super-prominent label printed on it, and the inside is nice and soft and feels like cotton. The strap was a little tight around my head so I loosened the strap, which means if the strap wears out over time I can tighten it again a bit. The ear plug holders on the side are a great idea, I like sleeping with ear plugs, especially in those situations where I use the sleep mask which is usually on a plane, in a car (not as the driver) or in some other turbulent environment, so it's good to have both things together. The material of the mask is lightproof, only if you open your eyes and look down I can see some light coming in around the nose area. I had this with every sleep mask, so if somebody knows a sleep mask that doesn't do that I'd be happy to hear about make and model. Overall this mask works good and does the job.

So, the whole idea of getting a sleeping mask is to be able to block the light to be able to get a good nights sleep, and this mask does exactly that. Before I got this one, I did a quick research for the other masks that are available on amazon. This mask seemed to be the one closest to blocking the light out completely, and the most comfortable to wear.after trying it myself for 2 days so far, I can see that the mask does indeed seal itself nicely around the eyes, and it has an excess portion around the nose area, that seems to be adaptable to different nose shapes, as it is proven with mine. I would say that the material of the mask itself blocks 90% of the light and not a 100%, as I was able to tell if there was light out there or not, with the mask being on, but it does make it dark enough for me, that it does not get annoying, and came to the conclusion that it does work. (hence the 4 starts, not 5)the other positive thing is that the strap is designed in a way that it won't have any parts of it dangling when you have the mask on, which would've been a challenge for any light sleeper as myself. so the fact that you can adjust it without having any excess part of the strap appearing, is a big positive point for me. The fact that you also have the freedom to adjust the strap the way you want is a great feature as well.For me, the ear plugs that came with it were an extra bonus.so overall, I am satisfied with this mask and I would recommend it to others.
