I would say "souped up notebook sleeve" It has handles, a roomy front pocket with a clip inside, and strapsI have a 17in Gateway FX and it fits perfectly. I could add a few more flat objects (like papers and a folder or two or 2-3 magazines), but not an ac adapter.My only complaint is that when I carry around the laptop in my bag, the handles feel a bit strained and sorta/maybe feels like it may rip, but it is very sturdy and durable, definitely good construction or materials qualityBut I wouldn't be carrying this out everywhere.But if I used the straps, then the it seems better, even though the links from the strap to sleeve are plastic, it seems to be more strong than using the handles. But my laptop is pretty heavy--around 10 pounds, so that is probably one factor in that opinion.I'd recommend it to anyone what wants a superb notebook sleeve for a moderate price. It is definitely a purchase that you would never regret--the pockets (inside the case and outside) are just perfect so to say (but not entirely perfect). It is definitely worth more than what amazon is offering.

Very nice, lightweight, laptop briefcase (at least that is how I am using it) that will fit a 17" wide laptop. Within the neoprene slipcase is a vinyl halfsleeve that I slip my laptop into, and then I can toss in my power cords and other accessories on the other side without having to scuff up my laptop. The padded neoprene provides enough cushion to protect the laptop from your normal bumps and jolts, but don't expect it to provide significant protection from a shoulder height drop. The shoulder strap is sturdy as are the handles, and they sit well on the shoulder or in the palm. If you are looking for something a little bit more than a sleeve where you can carry some extra papers and computer accessories, this is a great item.

Lightweight, attractive, slip case which carries a 17 inch notebook and accessories such as power cord, pens, pencils, PDA, and cell phone at a very reasonable price. Excellent hardware, namely the carry strap and the metal connections to the case. Does not look or weigh like a piece of luggage. Can also be used as a hand held portfolio. I have researched all the cases available on the Internet and for my purposes, this is the best one and the most reasonable. It is not bulletproof so if you want something that will protect your notebook from a ten foot fall unto concrete this is not for you.

I had a hard time finding a carrying case for my 17" laptop. I ordered this case and love it. It is lightweight and suits my purposes. I am an older adult and don't lug my computer to classes or the local coffee shop every day so I had no need for a hard-shell case. I do tote my computer with me a couple times a month and this case is wonderful. It has plenty of room for other items I need to take with me. The price was great and for my purposes, this is an exceptional value, great design ... perfect for my needs.

This case is developing holes in the bottom. I assume it's from the corners of my laptop. I would expect a bag like this to last for years and I'm not sure it's going to make one year.

This is truly a slip case for a 17" laptop, it fits well, but there is very little padding, meaning protection for the laptop. It is well made and can handle a few manilla folders with a few pages in them as well as the power supply but that's about it. If you're going to do any traveling where your computer may be bumped around - recommend going for something a bit heavier.

My son wanted his 17 inch laptop carrying case before he moved to UC Davis for his junior quarter. He previously bought his 15 inch laptop case from Amazon. I trusted his judgement in reviewing the Targus CVR217 laptop bag before making decision to purchase.The bag was nice and both he and I liked it. It is light and fits very well on his HP laptop. No bells and whistles and that is what I liked. Price was very attractive.I recommend this bag to those who want a well made, inexpensive and a good bag for their 17 inch laptop.
