First things first: I bought this item, this is not an 'honest review' review.The set I got seems to be stainless steel but I don't know how to scientifically test that. It's stamped 'BUND' but has no other markings. I washed it in hot water with wahsing up liquid while doing my usual washing-up but left it in the water for an hour then drip-drying on the drainer - there were no marks so I am assuming it's stainless. It's pretty heavy but I like it - it's solid stuff!The way it fits together is the Germany Army style with the knife blade and fork prongs safely hidden, unlike some other European/NATO designs which have the knife blade exposed. This kit feels good in the hands, it's well finished and the tin opener has a good hard sharp point. The knife has a slight serration and was blunt but I've sharpened it, just enough to easily cut cooked food, not razor sharp of course. The spoon bowl is a very good size, not measly like some kits.Nice :)
