Excellent Jacket- even if the sizes do run a tiny bit small
Alright, I'll admit that the sizes run just a tiny bit small (so go by THEIR chart and not Amazon's and if you're close to the edge go up a size!!) but, the seller's awesome customer service helped us to straighten things out not only easily but in plenty of time for the husband to use the jacket for the trip back East to snow country we bought it for (seriously, thanks again). As to the jacket itself, it's actually of a really good quality- particularly for the price we paid- and yes, full disclosure: I know how to sew very well and since the jacket was bought for the husband to use on a trip, I went over all the details very carefully because I know that he's going to be hundreds of miles away from home when he has to rely on it for the first time. So, this is what I've determined:The outer fabric is nice and sturdy, the lining is soft and thick and inspection of the seams haven't shown any dangling threads or highly uneven/off the grain sewing. In fact, the designers also ensured that the seam for the zipper is a healthy distance from the track ensuring that it would be easy to close up even when wearing gloves (a very, VERY important detail with this kind of double closure that oh-so-many jacket manufacturers ignore).Detailing (pockets, patches, etc) are firmly and evenly attached to the body at a proper seam allowance (not too far in from the edge). Pockets have been reinforced like they should be (amazing how often that tiny back stitch gets skipped in today's fast fashion trends) and lastly, the buttons seem to be sewn in a proper number of times (again, some manufacturers will skimp a little on this step in order to save thread- the maker of this jacket did NOT do that).Design-wise, details seem pretty intelligent. Not only does the waist cord serve to pull the jacket closer to the body but the seaming in order to accommodate it also anchors the lining to the outer fabric. Anyone whose ever had a lining try to bunch up on them and shove itself into the sleeve when they tried to pull on a jacket knows that this is a nice detail to have. The hood being attached to the bottom of a collar in order to keep the neckline from opening out when the hood isn't being used is another smart detail that I honestly think we see far to little of because I've always found that design choice to be far warmer than just a hoodie with no collar at all.Overall, I have got to say that while the husband hasn't worn the jacket in the snow quite yet, I honestly can't see any reason why this jacket shouldn't keep him quiet warm and last him a very long time to come. Thank you.
