The Ancient Egyptian Ideal: Justice as Conscience
Ms. Mancini's intuitional gift as a critical scholar, has resurrected and brought back to life the ancient Egyptian religion, in terms of living inside and with 'justice and truth'. After reading this book about how the ancient Egyptian people valued Maat as a way of being, I felt that modernity has gone backwards in moral comprehension. Their understanding of justice was so large that it encompassed every aspect of society along with providing the knowledge and wisdom to culturally implement 'Justice as Conscience'.

Excellent discourse
Academic in form, Mancini's book is able to strip Maat of its mystique and provide the evidence as to what it really amounted to among ancient Egyptians. At the same time she shows (for this reader at least) the profound value this concept had and how it can easily be seen as a proto-philosophic system in its own right. Well done.
