A great product for a dog runner trolley!
Two year update: still works great with no issues! We are using it for a 100ft dog runner trolley we gave set up in our yard. Initially we had a 10 ft cable hooked up to the trolley that constantly kept getting wrapped around the dog or things in the yard. This coiled line allows our dog to roam without getting tangled with anything as the coiled line never drags on the ground. We've had several people admire it. Thanks for the great product!Note, not for OCD people. It gets a bit like the old style coiled telephone cords sometimes when our dog pulls it out straight then allows it to recoil. It never knots, it just looks imperfect. This has no negative affect on it's performance though. We really love this cable!

Very Good Quality For the Money
I have a 60-70 pound Pit Bull/Hound mix. He is very strong and really puts a workout on a cable lead. I have been using this to attach my dog to a 100' runner using a pulley and it does a great job. I read some reviews where dog owners complained that the coils were too tightly wound for their small dogs making it hard for them to stretch out the cable. Although this is not a problem with my dog anymore, I did use it with him when he was smaller and I recognize what others are saying is true. I found a way to resolve this easily is to stretch the coiled cable out for about 24 hours. One great way to do this is if you have a chain link fence, or a chain link kennel. Just clip one end of the lead to a point on the fence, then stretch it out and attach the other end and leave it overnight. When you take it loose it will not be nearly as tightly wound, making it easier for a small dog to use.I have found that these cables last about a year where I live in Georgia. Over time the plastic coating becomes brittle and water gets inside and the cable will rust. My first one broke after about a year's use, but for $6.58 (which is what I paid for it on Amazon) that is an excellent value for the amount of use it got as my dog used it daily. I am now about 6 months into my second one and I have a third one on hand for when the second one wears out.I have also used these staked to the ground, or one end attached to some heavy object like the leg of a picnic table, and my dog has no problem getting tangled up with them when they are on the ground. I don't think this would be too much of an issue for a large and strong dog like mine, but it could be with a smaller dog. Staked to the ground this coiled cable lead gives my dog approximately 708 square feet of running room. (Pi times Radius Squared). However, attaching it to a 100' overhead runner with a pulley does give him much more mobility. If you do the math 100' x 30' (15" either direction from center) gives him 3,000 square feet of running room. That is more room than the average family has inside a large suburban home. (Of course, there is an additional 708 square feet at the ends of the run, but I did not add them to the calculation as the yard where I am at has trees and bushes the keep my dog from going past the end of the runner.)

Great as a recoil tether!
I attached one end of this to our stake in the ground, and the other end to our 25 ft straight tether. It works great this way.I wouldn't recommend using this as a stand alone tether, for all the previously listed reasons from other users. Because there's tension on the tether from the coils, it is more likely to get wrapped around your dogs legs, but just keep an eye out and it's usually okay. It's great because it's harder (but not difficult) for my 30 pound lab/border collie puppy dog to extend the coiled tether, so it helps to slow him down so he doesn't hang himself like he did on the straight tether. He'll run full speed to the end, since he didn't know boundaries.Be warned, though - his collar snapped clean off at the buckle when we went to chase a bird, so ensure your dog's collar is sturdy, and only ever tether your dog when s/he is supervised.

Works perfectly
Used this on our dog line for our 50 lb lab. Works great. It keeps the leash from dangling on the ground and it never gets wrapped around her legs. Already bought a second one for our front yard. It has loosened up a bit since using it but that hasn’t affected how well it works.

GREAT, no more tangling around head and legs.
Perfect for the overhead cable dog run, stretches very far and shrinks back up above dog when she gets close to line no more tangling around head and legs.. used with harness, with supervision for an hour as I did yard work. I feel really great about letting her play alone for short spells while I am busy in and out of the gate to the front yard. Puppy is 30 lbs now and line is just an old clothes line for the moment. Held up fine, and she pulled on it a lot!

Not What we needed
We have a 25# pug and a deck at our cabin, very good boy when we are out there with him but can't leave him untethered when not, he likes to go exploring. Had been using a regular 1/8" SS wire rope dog tether for years. It has weathered and gets all kinked up. Thought this coiled might be perfect, no, to strong for him to be comfortable and lays about 3 feet away. He can extend it to get a treat but puts to much pressure on him to lay out and relax. Tried it for about 2 hours and felt sorry for my buddy and went back to regular old tether, anyone have better idea, I am open to suggestions.. Not the tether problem, just to strong for our dog.

Perfect for dog trolley
Great replacement part for my trolley run.. the springy lead makes it easy for dogs to explore along their trolley run while keeping it short and compact at other times. Great product! Just connect it to your existing trolley.

Exactly what I needed
I use this to attach to my dogs leash and let her out to pee from the door, I get to stay inside while she does her business. 👌

Good compliment to aerial system
I have had this for a couple months now, once it relaxed a bit it is perfect for my dog's aerial line. She is 40 lbs and charges full out and I am comfortable it will hold. Still gets tangled, in some ways worse than a straight lead but it doesn't wrap around her legs (watch your hair). It is not good tied to fixed objects. I never leave her unattended for more than a couple minutes, any leash can break or hang a dog. This cord is definitely over priced at $25 but I couldn't find it anywhere else so I am satisfied with the purchase.
