BRNO baLens BAL77 77mm White Balance Snap-on Lens Cap with Neutral and Warm Domes

This was actually my second time buying (and being disappointed by) this product. I originally bought this product wanting a quick, portable, and convenient solution to color-correcting my pictures on the fly, and for the most part, this product did its job and worked as advertised. However, the build quality is questionable at best, especially when it comes to the plastic retaining ring that holds the white/neutral grey dome in place. One of the really thin plastic locking clips that helps lock the ring into the lens cap and hold the dome in place broke for both of the lens caps that I own. I bought this product a second time because I really believed in the product and wanted to give it another try, but unfortunately, that cheap, thin, plastic retaining ring is ultimately the straw that broke the camel's back. (Also, it is very easy for the two clips that lock the lens cap into place to get stuck, often leading to moments where the lens cap falls right off the lens, onto the table/chair/ground. Annoying.) At the very least, I didn't lose my white and grey domes, and I can use the lens cap as a makeshift vignetting tool by taking pictures with it still on my lens (with the dome removed). But just do yourself a favor and save yourself the money and the trouble, and just get a regular lens cap and a proper white/neutral grey card. Nice try, but try harder next time (and use better materials)!

I purchased this white balance lens cap for $40+ expecting it would be well made and would allow for easy custom white balance.Unfortunately, the half dome is held in by a tiny plastic ring, that when you place anywhere, the ring rotates off, and you lose the half dome. If you are lucky enough to find the little half dome, you might be able to use it...a second time. However, if you lose the little ring, the entire lens cap is trash! The tiny rotating ring is hard plastic and is so easily lost that I lost mine the first week. It rotates off by simply placing your camera on the table. Then I had to choose which I would rather, a warm white balance or true white because you have to permanently glue one of them in place. Since I wanted to be able to use both, and the only remaining way of attaching one half dome was glue, this was impossible to do.This is a good concept with really bad execution. Waste you money somewhere else, not on this dinky product that is incredibly expensive for what you get.

The easiest way to get the correct colors from my camera, without carrying any extra gadgets around or spending more time after the shoot on the computer. Unlike the previous reviews, I find the locking ring to be quite secure and have never had any problems with my baLens. I have also recommended this product to many of my friends as well as have purchased a few as gifts. Many of my friends told me they love this product and use it on all of the events including outdoor sporting and indoor concerts.Definitely a great product and highly rcommended!

I bought this thinking it would help me balance my life, I mean light. After several months I found myself reverting back to my old collapsible white reflector. The baLens' center half-dome falls off and when it's gone you're left with a lens cap with a hole in it. Couldn't they attach screw threads or a locking mechanism of some kind? Or maybe sandwich the cold white and warm white lenses in the lens cap and use a rotating mechanism to switch between the two. Loreo does it in their lens-in-a-cap series. No, I cannot recommend this product to a friend.

I have been using this cap for a few months now on one of my utility lenses with mixed results. I need to spend some more time testing this with other lenses and conditions.

If you shot in a variety of conditions it is always nice to check you white balance, and this is a quick and easy way to do it.

I get superb custom white balance with this device on my Nikon high-resolution DSLR. Couldn't be happier.

Works well, but don't sit on them. They break more easily than a standard cover.
