Rabbi Shlomo weaves enchantment into the story. He conveys his own wonder and love of these wonderful lifeboats of wisdom.

This was a gift for my (Christian) Orthodox priest, after hearing about it, and a story from it, from the Jewish family I'm closest w/ (and whom I knew when I lived for 9+ years in Jerusalem). The book is full of heart and wisdom, no matter what your tradition. My priest has less familiarity w/ the Yiddish end of things, so uses google to get definitions of some terms, like 'mamash', and he's loved the stories he's read so far. A real find for its aroma of Shlomo.

Love this book. I read it at bedtime with my 8-year old daughter, who loves it as much as I do. The stories are inspirational and beautifully told.

This is among my favorite storytelling books. I have several other books, including others by Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, and I found this one to be just as entertaining, educational, and the stories touch my heart deeply. Anyone who is moved by stories, especially from the Jewish tradition, should include this book in their library.

Excelente libro

This book is steeped in heartfelt stories that nourish more than our intellect. It is easy to get lost in good stories, but to have your heart and soul be nourished is not so easy. Shlomo Carlebach did this through songs, stories and teachings. This book captures the essence of those stories and has the feel of a time long gone when the spirit was a tangible thing.

Some of these stories have been told in other books about Shlomo's shared stories from so many great Rabbis, but I enjoy this book as a reference for sharing on Shabbat eve too.

Great stories!! Don't overlook the Introduction, however...there's wisdom there, too. Something here for everyone--it will not disappoint. ENJOY!!!
