This is the best carbon block cartridge for the Dupont 10" filter housing. This one has NSF/ANSI rated health effects that are superior to the 20001 or 40001 models for example. All of the carbon block cartridges work the same way and offer some improvement, but only this 70001 is actually rated to remove more than odor/taste, and particulates. It is rated by the NSF/ANSI standard 53 to remove lead, atrazine, lindane, as well as cysts, bacteria and viruses.Check your water company's federally-mandated Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). It will indicate any violations of EPA standards. The most common violation for my water company is the presence of coliform bacteria. These are usually harmless bacteria, but they present because they're easy to culture. However, they indicate a greater chance of the presence of some harmful bacteria. In my semi-rural area, the source is usually livestock waste. The water company addresses that issue, and this filter will help if they ever miss their goal.My water company does the heavy-lifting to deliver my household drinkable water from a tested well. I don't need expensive and highly inefficient RO. This carbon block cartridge does what I need.

More expensive but worth the improvement over the standard APEC WFS1000 last stage filter.
The standard filters in the APEC WFS1000 unit I have are all 5 micron filters. This is a .5 micron filter. I bought it to replace the final stage filter. Taste was a noticeable improvement. Crystal clear water. A slight reduction in flow rate but so worth it.We have a clear glass boil pot for tea and had also noticed fine particulate floating on the water after boiling. That doesn't happen now.First one arrived in a soft bag but the black end cap was cracked (it would def leak). Prime was great in that all I had to do was drop it off at UPS. They took care of everything and I got a replacement promptly. Great service.

NSF 53 certified and made in the USA. Works great so far. I started using these after the KX Matrikx filters started being made overseas.
