Tl;dr - my new favourite hat. Fantastic quality and guaranteed for life by the manufacturer. Fits exactly as hoped; super comfortable [using the manufacturer's advised measuring guide: head measurement of 58cm (23in), add 2cm for comfort - i.e. ordered the 60cm (7 1/2)]. Absolutely worth the extra money.Being bald and having a shaved head, I wear hats throughout the year to protect from the sun. When in the great outdoors in the summer, I used to use my beloved Outdoor Research Helium, which was cheap (£30) and performed well for several years, although it was never winning any fashion awards.However, I thought it was looking a bit tatty and it did get a very sweaty when it was hot, so I opted to test out the similarly priced Columbia Bora Bora II... which I hated. The ventilation was far too loose and would've provided large sections of unprotected scalp, and the materials and brim were floppy and questionable. In the end I didn't even both wearing it. Doing more research I came upon Tilley hats. There's a load of hoo-ha on the internet about them being made in China nowadays instead of Canada, but ultimately everyone seems to love them.I picked a wide-brimmed, cotton hat with ventilation because it ticked every box for me. On arrival, I can tell you that the quality of the workmanship is incredibly high, China or not.The fit is incredible. It feels loose, but yet extremely secure on my head; even leaning over and shaking my head, there is no movement. No tightness on the brow and plenty of room in the crown for airflow, with the added bonus of the sponge pad in the hidden pocket, to apply water if desired in desert-like conditions.The clever use of a (comfortable) single piece of lace allows you to secure the hat to the back of your head for windy weather, and also use the chin strap at the front if you're in gale-force winds! In contrast, it makes my formerly well-loved OR Helium feel misfitting and inadequate.I will be thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2024 and I have no doubt that this hat will last the entire length of the trip and many years beyond that, so long as I don't lose it!

I have delayed getting a Tilley hat until now because I didn’t think the cost would justify the extra quality. I was wrong. This is an exceptional hat that fits perfectly, is comfortable on the headband area (thanks to a soft cotton lining) and is cool. It holds its shape well and protects me from the glare of the sun. I’m follically challenged, so it will be essential when summer comes. I sweat buckets, so I need a hat that cools me down - yet to be proven, but I have high hopes. And best of all, it has a lifetime guarantee.

I've owned Tilley hats for years and this is another first class hat. We still get the secret pocket, but no bragging labels, apparently we can't have them because it's a planet saving measure. Instead inserted in the secret pocket is a floatation pad so it's not all bad. This hat replaces one that I lost, but the good thing is that this hat is even more comfortable than the one I lost. I love these hats they are so easy to care for, foldable and washable too.

Great fit, style & comfort. Ideal all rounder. Lightweight but not flimsey.

Protects ears from sunlight which is why this hat was bought. Looks stylish.

My experience with Tilley and their "Guaranteed for Life" program:1. If you ever buy this Tilley Hiker hat the small hanging loop on the brim of your hat may become unattached on one side without you having applied any force on it and only 8 months following your purchase.2. If you write to Tilley’s Customer Service and attach photos showing the broken loop and evidence of purchase, they will write you back insisting on a photo showing the entire item as well as a photo of the inside label showing the words “Guaranteed for Life”.3. If you do as they ask you, be patient with them as it can take them 8 days to write you back.4. If you are lucky to get them to write back to you that they “have assessed your item and agree that it qualifies as part of the Guaranteed for Life program!" expect them to ask you for a £6.00 handling fee; to chose from their website 3 choices of a hat you wish to receive, according to availability; and to provide them with “proof of destruction photos” of your hat (including to write the date of their email clearly on the item and to cut off the top part of the hat). They will also ask you to get confirmation of the availability of your new hat before destroying your old item.5. If you do as they ask, please allow Tilley another 2 weeks to get back to you and don’t bother to write back to them that you are “extremely sorry and surprised to find out that Tilley has a negative sustainability policy” as they will ignore it.6. If they ever get back to you, expect new handling fee requirements of $20 to CA, US, and AU and $50 for the rest of the world.At this stage I gave up on returning the item and on ever buying Tilley again.

Exactly as described on the box. I used the measuring scale as displayed on the website and it fits perfectly. The colour and style exactly as on the photo. Very comfortable would highly recommend this product. Five stars.

The hat fits and feels.great, soft cotton. Water resistant and came with cooling pad for top of hat pocket.

Hard to find a hat that fits right but being able to get a hat sized to fit is awesome plus it’s very comfortable.
