SOMEWHAT DISTURBINGLY, THE ART OF MIND MANIPULATION
Another legal series, this one with a difference. Always in a trial, Prosecution and Defence vie to win over the jury. Pathologist Dr. Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly) heads a firm doing exactly this - state of the art technology, exhaustive background checks, "mirror juries", near certainty what the verdict will be. Expert staff assist. Freddy Rodriguez is Benny Colon, his lawyer in court.Viewers may be uneasy by tactics employed - some distinctly dodgy, hacking included. They may also find the main character an acquired taste - Bull so full of himself, at times insufferable.Despite reservations, the show is addictive - especially in the second season which offers a wider range and greater depth, Bull (rather pleasingly) not always getting his own way.Main reason here for success? As in most such dramas, the trials can grip - especially when cases ring true and one cares for the accused. Some issues are absorbingly topical (a driverless car causing a death, euthanasia, lethal side-effects from drug trials, online grooming, devastating cost cutting during high rise construction, arrogant big companies a law unto themselves). Not only does Bull's team often succeed in proving innocence, but steers the authorities towards the real culprit.Uneven fare. Great when at its best. Sometimes too glib and too casually contrived. (Some may have find Season 1's Episode 12 ludicrous. In contrast, Season 2's Christmas Special presses all the right buttons.)A positive binge-fest here. Two seasons. Twelve discs. 45 episodes. Lots of bonus features (mainly about Bull). Curiously there are also pilot episodes of SEAL TEAM and THE GOOD FIGHT.Although enjoyed, uneasy thoughts are prompted. How is all this paid for? Will such hi-tec practices become commonplace? What when adopted by those with evil intent?

Michael Weatherly is much better in Bull than NCIS

IT’S A LOAD OF BULL, BUT IN THE GOOD WAY. GO JASON!
If you like Bull, what’s not to like here. It has all the discs in one big case, with a slip cover. 👍🏻

The diverse storylines keeps you wanting more.
Michael Weatherly is engaging in this drama. He plays a different part to Denozo in NCIS, but is still as lovable. The subject is the psychology of jurors in courtroom sessions. This sounds dry, but is anything but. There are diverse storylines which keeps you wanting more. We’re enjoying it.
