Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque) in Istanbul Pamphlet – April 1, 2011

This is one in the series of plasticized heavy and sturdy fold-out folios with excellent information, maps, diagrams and basic text. If you want to know everything there is to know about the Blue Mosque, there is a lot more supplementary info out there, but this is a good basic start and probably enough for most travelers.

Like a good bite of chocolate cake. It gives you just enough of a taste to be satisfying without giving you too much.

I thought this would be a pamphlet but is just a laminated foldout. The picture detail is good but buying one of these for each of the main sights in Istanbul would approximate the cost of a entire guidebook. A guidebook would lack the nice foldout picture but would offer so much more information while also detailing the same points made in this item.

This series was very helpful & packed with a lot of information in a small, compact reference. I loved visiting Istanbul.

We were provided a copy of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque guide by Serif during a recent trip where Serif was our guide for two weeks. The guide is an excellent reference for anyone visitng the Mosque. During the time in Instanbul, we also received from him his guide references to the Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia and Bosphorus. All are EXCELLENT references. It would be hard to believe there is anyon more knowledgeable about Istanbul,Turkey, their people and culture. It was hard to say good bye to Serif after the two weeks. Serif is definitely a master at guiding, and could be considered a "guide for guides". I plan to purchase more material by Serif Yenen.

This pamphlet helps the visitor identify specific parts of the mosque and gives a brief explanation of the beautiful Iznik tiles on the walls, some of which are shown in the pamphlet. An illustrative insert enables one to get oriented to the important areas and monuments around the mosque.

A visit to the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, more commonly called the Blue Mosque, gives a visitor an opportunity to see a place actually used for its intended purpose. . .worship. One can be overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the interior. The brochure will be a good reminder of your visit, or make you miserable till you do travel to Istanbul.
