Maybe for tiny surf but broke in 5’ waves.
This leash broke on the second use in a moderate size set. It might be fine for a foam board in 2’ surf. But in 5’ waves I don’t think it will last long. I didn’t notice any nicks or cuts or damage. It was literally the second use of the leash.

Great leash
My problem with all leashes prior to this one is that when they twist around so the chord isn't aligned out back, and I adjust this under water, the inside flap that gets wrapped around your leg first will sometimes roll up inside the cuff. With 15 seconds before the next bomb lands on my head, I don't want to use a couple of those seconds to try to clear this really uncomfortable lump. The Oh Stevie leash slides around my ankle without this interior clumping. Perfect! Now I just twist it back in place and I'm good to go.The second thing is the release tab that you pull to remove the leash. For some reason, with other leashes I have to hunt for this tab and it is sometimes frustrating to get the leash off (especially if I'm at one of those tricky exits with waves smashing against rocks and you need to time everything right). This leash fixed that. It is easy to find the release tab under water and the leash always comes right off when I want it to.Finally, and this is not scientific, but I've not yet broken an Oh Stevie leash. I've given up on Dakine leashes as they break ALL the time (they used to be my go-to brand). My home beach is Dominical in Costa Rica and we get some pretty heavy waves maybe once a month during our season. I regularly break leashes and haven't broken a Ho Stevie yet...that's not proof of anything...but an indicator that I like! No one likes swimming all the way back to find a dinged board on the beach.

I like their fins and board bags, but the leashes are not good.
I surfed with this 9'0 leash a total of 22 times over the past 20 months. It was used in tiny surf, nothing over a 3 foot face. Most sessions were 1-2 and gutless mush. You know, fun for cruising some distance. Today in 1-2 foot surf the leash broke at the ankle strap, completely severed. This was not caused by a fin, as I would have known if a fin cut something that is inches from my foot. It just failed. From day one the leash was pretty uncomfortable. There was not enough padding and the width of the velcro and padding was a joke. When jumping off after a wave or falling, the leash would pull (like any leash does) on my ankle and the velcro would try to dig in. With a full suit this isn't much of an issue, but with a spring suit or trunking it, it was a bit painful. As the title says, their other products have been awesome. Be warned of the leash, it will not last more than a couple dozen sessions in small, weak surf.

Highly recommended
This is a sturdy, well built surf leash. I would highly recommend it. I body surf and the leash that came with my board was probably three feet long. I'm 6'4 and had to immediately get a longer leash. After asking around, I heard of Ho Stevie brand and made my purchase. Definitely worth it! There's a reason these guys have such a good rep. They sent me a couple nice follow up emails and even gave instruction as to how to put the leash on once the package arrived. Plus, there's a secret pocket to keep your car key in the leash. I swear they thought of everything. They're a class act all the way. Don't hesitate, you can trust these guys.

DA BOSS LEASH!
I ordered my surf leash from Ho Stevie (dude, such a badass name.. I don't even understand it, but it sounds awesome, and I am always happy to help a small business team :D) on Sunday, September 25, 2016, and it said it would arrive by Friday, September 30th. Usually, I'm like, "Meh! Okay, well it might be a few days late, as that's usually how many online deliveries go." That being said, it came to my doorstep, as scheduled on September 30, 2016. So thank you Ho Stevie for sticking true to your word!To continue, the actual leash is wonderful! It comes just as shown in the picture: mine was green, and plastic tube coded. The inside cuff to wrap around my leg was sturdy, padded, and is extremely durable. I have taken the leash out on two surf trips so far, and going under 3-5' Orange County, California surf waves has not pulled or extended the leash thus far. It is sturdy, really attractive, but most of all, works on my board. Occasionally, it wraps around my leg, but I feel like my surf leash before did the same.My only quip is that it did not come with a key holder as promised in the picture. That being said, I would never bring my key into the war and trust it to stay within a small 1" velcro apparatus, in the water, while being pummeled by waves. So it's really no loss to me whether I have a key holder.SOOO all in all, Ho Stevie! 5 out 5 stars absolutely. The courtesy email sent to me after buying my leash, inquiring if I was satisfied with my purchase, was an unnecessary, but most appreciated gesture, which I believe makes for top notch customer service. Thank you for going the extra mile, thank you for the leash, and I would recommend this to anyone looking to save money, while also looking for top quality in your surf gear.

Awesome, solid, affordable leash!
I have been using this leash for almost 2 years now! I have a white one, and it's been on my lost puddle jumper since I bought the board. It's been through many rough wipeouts and has never come close to snapping. I've sent it in some heavy 8ft+ Florida hurricane swell with this thing on and never lost my board. The ankle cuff is super comfortable and and the twisty thingy's keep the the leash tangles to a minimum. Highly recommend! Ho Stevie!

and thus a bit less comfortable. Overall
Leash is well made and survived the biggest hurricane surf of the summer in New Jersey, when my board was ripped out of my hands a couple of times and I wound up diving under a few macking sets with the board strapped to my ankle and the leash fully stretched closer to the beach. The board never snapped back at me, and while surfing I never once stepped on the leash.Would have been 5 stars, but the ankle strap is thinner than the leashes I usually use, and thus a bit less comfortable.Overall, though, I am a satisfied customer. It's a great leash for the price.
