Baffin Men's Arctic Snow Boot,Black,11 M US so far so good
Baffin Men's Arctic Snow Boot,Black,11 M USJust got these boots and have not made it outside with them yet,but plan to shortly. walked around the house with them and they fit just greatI usually end up buying anywhere from 10 to 11 depending on different styles of footwear overall. I just went with other boot's size I had previouslyand hoped for the best with a size 11. First impression was how huge the box was that amazon used to ship these in. and then seeing how big the actual boot box was. For some reason these boots just look taller than I had expected, which I like.As I got the boots out,cut a tag off,I was ready to put a boot on,and man, super comfo! Today I had a average year round sock on. However,as great as these fit with those everyday socks,I am sure there was enough room for a thicker sock. The tread seems to be very aggressive .I am hoping that I am able to drive with these on. They do not seem outrageously bulky so maybe I will be ok. I really like the lacing system. The last thing I want to do is tie and untie boot laces when I am freezing or getting ready to be that way. Pretty much set it and forget it with these laces. Then there is the gaiter top which uses the same type of adjuster. I guess depending on the depth of snow you are walking around in,you may or may not need those separate gaiters that I see on amazon. Don't know who makes those and have not used any in the past.I think even if you do walk in snow that are taller then what these boots are,the gaiter provided probably would keep out alot of snow anyway.Someone else may have additional info on exactly how they wear these boots, whether they tuck pants inside the boots or outside. They seem wide at the top at the gaiter,so maybe my pants would not fit over these boots to begin with. will have to see. Obviously I don't know about the -40F rating. I am in Michigan and we have been getting tons of winter weather the past week-cold temps and good amounts of snow for this area. There are times when I don't have to worry about the snow, but as far as cold temps go,I think these will be perfect. I know these are by many peoples standards, not inexpensive, but if I could afford it,I would keep an extra pair in my car just in case. I guess as with any boot,if you can keep your feet dry, they will feel warmer. I know there is alot of sock technology that would help in this regard, but I just don't have any to report on personally. I don't think a real thick sock would make your feet any warmer in these, the boots will probably do just fine on their own with any everyday sock. but a sock designed to wick the moisture away from one part of the sock to another, that may be a reason to check out some socks. I think outdoors-man/women ,who work or play in these all the time will probably already know what special favorite socks they will use, just as they always have. If you know one of these types of people,I am sure they would be happy to tell you about their strategy. That's all for now.UPDATE: 12/19/2016 These boots are doing all that they said they would, really great. only problem I do have with them seems to be thatwhen driving, the side of the boot which is on the gas pedal, comes very close to the brake pedal. maybe its because I drive a hyundai 2012 accent. maybe other cars have a greater distance between the accelerator and the brake pedal. For me ,I have to be very aware of how I have my foot positioned, maybe have to re learn how to drive with these particular boots. This is certainly NO fault of the boot, also a final good note, you can really just "step" into the boots to put them on. they are pretty stout on the sides. I dont have to lean over all the time to pull them on.

Great snow boots. Not so great regular boot.
These are great snow boots. Full stop. I've had these for a little while now and I've worn them for an extended period of time.Pros: They are extremely warm. The draw string works great. They stay on your feet well. They make walking through heavy snow a breeze. The thick inner liner is soft and comfortable. These boots are also much lighter than they appear. But they are durable.Cons: Remember those moon boots you had a kid? They fit like that. And despite all the cushioning my feet tended to get sore standing on hard surfaces (asphalt, concrete, etc) after about an hour. I've since bought some shoe liners to improve that.So they are excellent is snowy and cold conditions. It was recently -18F wind chill where I live and my feet were toasty warm. But the ankle support and foot soreness leave something to be desired. I'm glad I purchased these. And I would consider this manufacturer again in the future. But I wish I had known not to expect a boot that only works great when walking on snow. Every other kind of surface makes my feet a bit sore.

My favorite winter boot so far
I first saw these when we rented snowmobiles in Wyoming for the day. The outfitter had a fleet of them and when a business who specializes in throwing people into freezing environments and keeping them warm puts a load of money on one brand of boot to be used for years... that's a pretty good endorsement. After wearing them all day going fast on snowmobiles in sub 20 degree winter, I was sold. I'd been looking for a good pair of winter boots so I snapped a photo and looked them up online later that night. This was a few months ago and so far so good. They are easy to slide on, and have a very cushioned lining. I wouldn't wear them for long hikes but they are comfortable and supportive enough for hanging out in all day or shovelling off your drive. Very slip resistant on ice as well. My only complaint is the stitching quality around the rubber, there were a few loose threads which were coming unsewn so I had to hit them with a lighter to stop the fraying. I've also got a pair of slip on Bogs and I prefer these when it comes to warmth by a looong shot.

Fantastic!!!!
The boots arrived in perfect condition and in a reasonable time frame. I wear a size 12 and the fit was spot on. I have read other reviews speaking about buy larger. I didn't and I am glad for that. I immediately threw these babies on and braved the 19 degree evening here in new York city. Okay so maybe these boots might be kind of over kill here in the city. But I was tired of cold toes. Extremely comfortable. After an hour and a half out walking in and out of stores, my feet were actually hot. For this price, these boots are untouchable. I have worn them a total of 3 times in the 1st week, including freezing rain. Warm/hot and dry feet. Just what I was searching for. I am looking at the entire baffin line for any other needs for myself and family. Wish I knew of this company in the past. Baffins polar proven Arctic boots are a 10 star in my book. Love, love, love Amazon and baffin for outstanding boots and service.
